Fantastic stay

Publié le 11 févr. 2024 sur HomeAway
We had a wonderful time in this beautiful location. We had come from busy Chennai and the peace and tranquility of this area was wonderful. Our host and caretaker couldn't have been more helpful. They were so welcoming and the caretakers family even prepared some meals for us which were delicious. We were able to explore on foot and by bike and loved the small beach near the property. We were very fortunate to see some dolphins and have a boat trip on the backwaters. The house is very well equipped and we had a wonderful time. I would highly recommend

Absolutely the best for us!

I can’t possibly praise Vinod’s place enough! It was so perfect for us. We stayed for a month to be near family and also do the typical tourist stuff. This house was perfect. It’s big! Two big bedrooms upstairs with A/C and connected bathrooms, plus a huge balcony. On the uppermost level there’s a covered terrace that was amazing to go up to in the mornings and be surrounded by the local birds. Downstairs is the living room, another bedroom (no A/C, but has a ceiling fan), a bathroom, the dining room and kitchen. The house has a clean, modern feel. A two minute walk out the front of the house takes you to the backwaters where you can enjoy the sunrise, and a three minute walk around the back takes you to a small beach on the ocean to watch the sunset. The bigger, more open beach is about a 20min walk down the road, but the smaller one was perfect - private and close. There’s usually an Uber within 5-10 minutes away that can take you wherever you want to go. But the best part of it all was the arrangement Vinod made for us to have food delivered by the caretaker’s wife. She’s an amazing cook! My husband is from the area, and we’ve lived there before, so we know good Kerala food, and her’s is the best! They arranged for the food at the times that were convenient for us, and with a very reasonable price - better food and cheaper than eating out. This really made our stay there top notch. We would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to stay in Kochi. Thank you Vinod!

Villa on quiet lane five minutes from beach and two minutes to back waters.

Awesome stay. Very quiet and secluded villa with all amenities as described. Owner is quick to respond and very helpful with recommendations regarding local attractions, food, things to do et al. Fully equipped modern kitchen with western standard appliances. Home has beach stuff (Including a canoe), cycles, games and things to keep you busy at night. The decision to not install a TV turned out to be brilliant and much appreciated by our group (Especially my octogenarian Dad) as there was no distraction from just having fun in the groups company. 5 minutes walk to a secluded beach-even on weekends and holidays- or a 10 minute drive to the bigger but more populated Cherai beach. There is a grocery store for basic stuff five houses down and a very reasonable restaurant two houses down to buy appams, putto, parrot, fish curry and other Keralite dishes. The property provides an awesome care taker who was there to receive us a t 1 am for check in! Optionally, his wife can cook meals for a reasonable fee. They do speak only Malayali so I would not recommend hiring her if you are not conversant in the language (I tried google translate and everything but could not communicate). In any case, there are good restaurants- including beach shacks- that will give you awesome seafood nearby. Overall, would HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Note to owner- A few of the non-stick utensils have worn out and may need to be replaced.

A memorable vacation.

Booked this beautiful place for my family of four and a baby. An amazingly located property with a quiet beach at the front and beautiful backwaters at the rear. Right from the booking until we left the property, the owner Mr. Vinod was available over phone and was very patient in helping us with any queries. He also took time to prepare a detailed info of places to hangout around the property. House was huge, well planned and spacious, extremely well maintained with everything you need if you decide to do it all by yourself. We would call it a "home" as we were initially worried as it was the first ever trip with our 9mo baby. But this home made us settle in so quicky and comfortably. You could literally find the most common thing you would find in our homes. There is a caretaker Sajeev who receives and welcomes you warmly. He would be available over phone and lives a few blocks away. A maid could be arranged too on prior initimation for the daily chores and cleaning the property. I'm not a person who would write reviews. But this one property will always remain close to my heart. That made me write a detailed review. Anyone looking out for a property around Cherai can book it without a thought. The best place to be in according to us!

Experience local life by the beach

Publié le 14 déc. 2022 sur HomeAway
We wanted to relax, play at a beach, have wifi for husband to work and enough amenities to be comfortable and entertained for a week. This house is very spacious, large bedrooms, giant kitchen with connected dining area. Only the bedrooms have AC, something to note if that is an issue for you, it was fine for us. There are two bikes (1 adult, 1 slightly smaller for older child) which was perfect for our son and I to explore all around the village, from end to end of the peninsula. Plenty of delicious restaurants, massage and a water sports rental at one of the beaches. There aren't any tuk-tuks/taxi right by the house but easy to ask the house caretaker to call one. The main town is nearby, which we only visited once. We were very happy to hang out at the house, beach and village. The caretaker and his family were always around if we had any questions/needs, checked on us daily and their breakfast was so delicious. We enjoyed experiencing local life in a laid back beach village. Everyone we encountered was so friendly. We saw only a few other out of country travelers, but many tourists from different parts of India visit to play in the wonderfully warm water.
