Great place but less accommodating for seniors

Wonderful place, with 2 less than perfect things. First and most importantly, the swimming pool had no steps so my mother, who loves spending time in the pool, was unable to enjoy it. The availability of a pool was one reason I selected Melina, so this was a huge disappointment. Second, the beds were very hard. The food was delicious - we are vegetarians and the cook did an outstanding job.

Our room was double booked and we were moved to a different resort after two nights. My husband got food poisoning from the food there so we only ate there the first day.

THE WORST HOTEL IN WHICH WE HAPPENED TO STAY EVER

At the time of check-in, the room was not cleaned, they began cleaning after we moved in. There is no infrastructure around the hotel: no shops, no cafes, no restaurants, nothing. Food in the cafe, despite the high cost, was disgusting. The credit for food and beverages included in the price was obtained only after the repeated demand. The hotel itself is old and smelly, where did the 3 stars come from, it does not deserve even one! The room is worn out and needs repair. In the bungalow only few energy-saving light bulbs of 5 watts, they are so dim that it is even impossible to read under them! The bed linen is decrepit and yellowish. The bed is hard like a stone. In the bungalow strongly stinks moldy. There is no TV or anything like that, I don’t even mention the lack of hairdryer… Air conditioner in the room did not work! Apparently, it was not serviced ever. When turned on, it just stank and made a loud noise, while blowing out warm air. The sign of ERROR E4 was constantly appeared on the display of the air con. There was no promised Wi-Fi. Free or paid, there was no Internet at all. There was a stench in the toilet room, toilet and sanitary ware were in an awful state. The ceiling in the toilet is all in black mold. At 20:30 the hotel’s electric generator was turned off, and for the night everything was plunged into total darkness! Yes, that's right - the hotel did not have electricity, so we had to spend all the night in the heat and stuffiness. TERRIBLE!

Thanks for your comment, am sorry the hear that you had bad experience on that day at our property and please note that we have taken on board your comments and improve on the communication, and re big storm and movement power off, our proper do have generator but not for the aircon during that period of time. Just light and less power. We do prepare the room for you but We need to clan your room again after the wind brow the sand in the room as we area on the beach. I understand it’s not such a good time of the year as some time the wind could be strong. Our restaurant open daily our price is quite affordable and we the only beach bar and restaurant. If you stay longer we could take you around and show you all the activities and surrounding in the area. We would like to offer you one (1) night COMPLIMENTARY of your return or your friend or family can us this credit. We apologized of any inconvenience it may cause your unenjoyable day. Thanks again for choosing our property to stay at and hope we can entertain you again.

Room for improvement!

We stayed as a family of five (three kids) in the two bedroom bungalow. Beautiful location with access to a great beach. Great for anyone looking to stay in a quiet remote area and just get away from everything. Expect basic and you will be fine! But, as it is so remote and there isn’t much to do, the staff and accommodation should be better equipped. Rooms are basic which is what you expect but no amenities such as cups/glasses/tea making facilities/not enough towels). Bungalow was cleaned daily but not very well at all. Beds are super hard (much more than other Thai hotels we’ve been to), worst pillows ever. No privacy in our sitting area, just a glass patio door which didn’t have a curtain so everyone could see us every evening. Food was ok but by the second day we were keen to get out and have something else as the streefood we’d been having was by far tastier! Simple enough breakfast (but even ordering tea, we had to ask for a spoon, milk and sugar every time). Lots of bugs in the sitting and sink area (this can’t be helped though as it’s the natural environment). Another note, we couldn’t lock the bungalow from the outside if we left which didn’t seem right, only from the inside. We enjoyed the break but after our three night stay we were looking forward to our next stop!

Quiet and relaxed beachside paradise

Pour : The staff, restaurant and general relaxed atmosphere
Contre : The WiFi can be patchy and intermittent but generally is ok
Emplacement : There is easy access to the offshore islands for snorkeling and fishing. You can get massages onsite.
Melinas is a beautiful quiet beachside paradise with excellent staff and lovely friendly helpful Hosts. Tucked away in Thalane Bay away form the tourist hordes you will not want to leave. The food at the beachside bar is fantastic and the sunsets are amazing.
