Oooo. So nice. As you walk in, you are met with a garden with running water in the open air atrium(?). Very calming. The staff is amazingly kind and helpful. So unassuming. The room was large and well appointed. The TV gives you updated status on the buffet area on the first floor as well as the state of the laundry machines. The rooms were well lit. The teas were fragrant. The coffee… meh. But I’m an amateur coffee snob. Oh, and the breakfast buffet was just over the top. There’s a Japanese food side and and a western food side. There’s a counter for Kyoto area specials. Wowza. I ate and ate. Then they have tea time with a snack bite provided. Not done ywt — in the evening, they have a number of sakes open and Asahi, Sapporo, and Kirin cans on ice. Really can’t complain. There are great food options in the vicinity. There’s a noodle shop next door that nearly always had a line forming (outside, of course, and in the freezing cold… I was there December). And a charcoal grill place a couple houses down that is excellent. The hotel is close enough to the Kyoto Station to have easy access to anywhere (SUICA is soooo useful…). All said, though, I would stay there just for the amazing staff. There’s a good mix of foreign and native travelers that stay there.

These factors are reflected in my high ratings: within walking distance to train station, lovely architecture, friendly front desk staff, useful amenities available for the taking in the lobby, laundromat on two floors, pajamas provided, complimentary tea time and cocktail service. Shower and bath are great and water pressure is just right, you have thermostat control and a humidifier in the room. I recommend buying up to add the buffet breakfast. The selection is huge and includes many seasonal Kyoto specialties. If you want to travel light you can come here with just a change of underwear.

Great place if frequently using Kyoto Station!
Very helpful staff during check in, check out and bag hold process. Rooms very clean. Would benefit from clearer instructions about daily need to select next day's cleaning option, though default Eco-clean is nice. Also good to know that full room clean required every 3 nights. Some noise from busy street outside. Blackout curtains effective. Proximity and cost/value to Kyoto Station are amazing!

Convenient and spacious
We had a superior twin room for 2 and it was more spacious than expected. The amenities included an updated modern hairdryer, curling iron and flat iron. Separate bathroom door from toilet and bedroom. Even the foyer had its own pocket door. Bath amenities bar has high end pola skincare. Friend enjoyed the hair oils and facial mask. Unfortunately the amenities bar ran out of the masks for me so I didn’t have a chance to try it.

The hotel is so conveniently located around 5 minutes walk to Kyoto station. The staff are friendly and accommodating, the services are very good and reasonable, the amenities bar have got a vast selections including bath salts, sheet mask and hair oils which I didn't find from other hotels. The nightly complimentary bar was a real bonus after a long day of exploration. This hotel is highly recommended.

Richmond hotel was close to Kyoto station, where we could pick up numerous trains and buses. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We didn’t try the breakfast but they offered a free tea time in the afternoon where we could choose from one of four free desserts as well as tea or coffee. They had six washer/dryer combo machines and you can check their availability on your TV screen. The hotel was clean and modern. The room was a little tight, as typical for Japan hotels but still had amenities. They helped us send our luggage ahead to the Haneda airport. Highly recommend!

Loved this hotel. Stayed here with my wife and 5 year old for 5 nights. Short walk from Tokyo station. Plenty of conbinis around. Also a few Malls a shirt walking distance from hotel. Buffet breakfast was also very nice.

We love this hotel. We enjoyed the afternoon tea and the evening happy hours! We love the green tea parfait, the variety of drinks, and the amenities! Everything they provided were of good quality. The rooms are very clean. The beds and beddings are comfortable. Service would have received a five star, if it weren't for one little incident in departure. My sister asked a bottle of water a minute after she checked out. The staff declined her! I came after her, so I asked for her before I checked out. The staff asked how many bottle do I need! he appears to be happy to give me a few! I hope he can be more flexible and provided one to a guest who just checked out after five nights stay. My sister was upset about being declined a bottle of water.
