I'm glad you loved the location as much as I have over the years. I doubt the DNR would ever approve of a place as close to the waterfalls with today's regulations. To be frank, your accusation that the owner doesn't use his profits for quality repairs are simply untrue. A seasonal place like this never even breaks even with all the required maintenance, although renting does off-set the costs. For example, in 2023, the Owner replaced the wood-burning stove as the sole source of heat for the cabin, on top of many of other improvements and repairs during his regular stays. Perfection is a challenge to attain. The owner has been kind enough to share his gem with others these past 15 years. Still, I can agree with you that there is always room for improvement, especially with the details. Here is an example of one of our challenges: Paiting the deck on a seasonal log cabin requires the luck of the weather when we have scheduled guests, many of whom have booked a year out. We have had multiple dates set to get the deck painted, and all have had to be rescheduled. We are holding out for 2024. Aestetics aren't everything, yet to some it obviously is. I hear you that quality is as important as the repairs being completed. Sometimes when we have guests who damaged something depart the cabin and other guests are arriving that same afternoon, we have to do the best we can with either ACE or Walmart if we can get the part (both are an hour one way).... IF we are so lucky to be able to find the needed part in a timely manner. Plus, there are some inherant imperfections within this unique property. For example, closet door is an uneven floor and he screens are held in by wood. Side Note: The boots are purposely left for guest use, and the boat cover you are referring to are actually waders, in case a guest forgot their own and want to explore or fish the river deeper. The housekeeper sent us videos of the cupboards. No bugs could be found. I'm glad they must have scurried after you departed.
