Antiques but not sustainable

It is unfortunate that Loralee chose to deliberately damage our hard earned reputation to promote her own personal agenda. Our home has likely impacted the environment less than 90% of homes of it's kind that are available for short term rental in our area, and much less than any hotel. We have practiced sustainable methods and recycling in this home for 37 years. All our lighting and appliances are energy efficient and on timers to reduce energy consumption when guests are not in residence, and the consumption is controlled by the guests when it is occupied. It is also the only short term rental accommodations furnished almost completely in antiques. Perhaps when Loralee has personally financed the saving of a protected wetland and eagle habitat, at a cost of 5 years of her time, and almost two hundred thousands dollars of her own money, as we have done, we will take her unfair and untrue criticism of our sustainability. I have no idea where she found any undue amount of "plastics" in our home (we do need to use plastic trash can liners in the kitchen, and we have 1 sleeve of Solo cups for guests to use if they want to use them instead of our glass serving items), we have a couple of plastic chairs, and I suppose the TV's and air cleaners etc. are plastic, but I don't know of any that are not. It is impossible to please people like Loralee she told us she loved the home. This review was unfair, if she wants to leave less of a footprint she should stay in a tent.

Judy decided to cancel her booking at the last moment and wanted us to give her both a full refund, and new dates, which we could not, because our home was unable to be rebooked for the nights that she had reserved on such short notice, so essentially she would be gaining a free stay in our home. So, she decided not to stay and then trashed us with a fake review to damage our business in retaliation because she violated our cancellation policy and had to pay as per her rental contract. The guest immediately before and immediately after her gave us all 5 star reviews. I would not recommend Judy to other hosts as a guest.

Vintage House with Modern Amenities
Publié le 3 août 2024 sur HomeAwayThis house is a lovely Victorian House that has been restored. Everything you need for a comfortable stay is available in the house and the lovely backyard. The bedrooms especially are tastefully decorated and spacious. Each has a different theme and the beds are comfortable. The owners are very proud of this house having lovingly restored it and are always thinking and planning on more restorations.
Communication from the owners was impeccable and detailed making check in and use of the house easy. They also have clear notes in the house, so we would know how to use the appliances. I found the notes very helpful.
The location was great for us and near grocery stores and restaurants. It was easy to get to the places in La Crosse we wanted to visit.
Our stay exceeded our expectations. A return visit is in order!

Historic home

Charming place and great cause

We lived lightly (didn’t cook, use tv or music system), found beds were comfy, home is well stocked. Quiet area, lovely backyard. Special bonus was knowing our stay helped rescued horses at owners’ sanctuary. We’d definitely return!

Step back in time

We did not hear from Beth during her stay, but she left me a message saying "We very much enjoyed or stay!" and "Thank you so much for your hospitality!" Beth and her husband came on the air show weekend. We had back to back guests but were trying to give her a last minute early check in she requested, and apparently a neighbors air show party guests had come up on our porch after I had cleaned it and left a couple beer cans behind, maybe because it was so very hot and we have a wonderful ceiling fan there, but I did not hear them, so I had no knowledge of that. I wish Beth let us know, I certainly would have been right back over to remove the cans, Beth told me no worries, but gave us only 4 .stars. We do our absolute very best to make sure everything is perfect for our guests, we just had no idea someone would ever do that.

Brian was a wonderful guest. They loved the house and loved that they could watch the Blue Angels right from the yard (our neighborhood has great viewing for the Air Show). We are thrilled that Brian will be staying with us again soon!
