Welcome to your charming holiday cottage in rural SW France. The cottage is a 300 year old converted stone barn with a secure courtyard at the front, a spacious deck at the rear (with comfortable seating), together with gardens and a private, newly installed salt water, heated pool. The cottage was our home for 15 years and we now live in another converted barn at the other side of the garden. We have just one Gite so the pool is for your sole use. There are 6 sun loungers and 2 large sun shades by the pool.
It is located in Lot-et-Garonne but less than a mile from the border with the Dordogne. It's about a minutes walk from a bar and restaurant, shop, a pharmacy, hairdressers, butchers, ancient church and a doctor's office. There's a small weekly market. The village is rural and well known for being able to see the stars on clear nights. There's even an Observatory. There are numerous walking, running and cycling trails in the area. Parc en Ciel (an adventure ground with a range of outdoor activities) is a short walk. Kayaking on the Dordogne is within driving distance. However, for history lovers the village is surrounded by Bastide villages and chateaux. There are numerous traditional French markets, vineyards and amazing restaurants in the area. To whet your appetite we will leave you a welcome basket of local produce.
The cottage has three bedrooms. Two are en-suite. The third has its' own bathroom on the ground floor. There's a large kitchen and dining room. The kitchen is a well-equipped 'cooks' kitchen with two ovens and a large central island. We provide a NESPRESSO machine. (For BBQ 'cooks' there is a Weber gas BBQ in the courtyard adjacent to the kitchen and a table and chairs for summer dining). The sitting room is also large and has English and French TV, DVD player and Apple TV. There is an Alexa is in the kitchen. There is a DVD library and small collection of books. Both rooms have wood burners and are beautifully cool in summer but super cozy in winter.
High quality toiletries, linens, bath towels and separate pool towels are provided.
We're dog friendly!
A NOTE ABOUT ACCESS, MOBILITY and MINIMUM GUEST AGE:
All 3 bedrooms have two flights of stairs to them and access to the pool and rear terrace is via 2 flights of steps plus several smaller steps and a path. As can be seen in the pictures, the pool doesn't have disabled access grab rails. We, therefore, do not recommend our cottage to anyone who has mobility issues or struggles with stairs.
This is also why our MINIMUM GUEST AGE is 13.
HYGIENE & INFECTION PREVENTION:
We appreciate how important this is to our guests so we follow and go beyond the WHO (World Health Organisation) COVID-19 Guidance for the Accommodation Sector, August 2020. We follow all of the guidance including the airing rooms, washing linens and towels at 60-90 degrees, sanitising bathrooms with recommended solutions, sanitising door handles and light switches and so on. However, we go further and, for example, use pillow and mattress protectors that are changed and washed between guests and air pillows and duvets in direct sunlight whenever possible.
Please note that the check and check out times are non-negotiable as we need this time to properly clean and sanitise the cottage. Further information about the WHO procedures is available in English and French in the cottage.
TRAVEL:
If you choose to drive to us, there is ample parking right outside the Gite. If you fly, we are a delightful 30 minute gentle drive through the vineyards and historic villages from Bergerac Airport (EGC) (with flights to lots of UK airports plus Brussels and Amsterdam). We are approximately 2 hours from Toulouse Airport (TLS) and Bordeaux Airport (BOD). Our nearest train station (about 10 mins away) is Monsempron Libos.
