Perfect escape with pets
Publié le 18 sept. 2024 sur HomeAwayThis was a 4 day getaway to relax. While there is no water view from the property, a short walk and some steps led us to the perfect semiprivate beach. There were umbrellas, chairs and 2 kayaks available to use. Despite it being mid September, the water was swimmable and the temps were high 80s. We brought our dogs with us and they loved swimming in the water. I can't speak to how busy it is during the peak summertime, but we had the entire stretch to ourselves. Loved that! We got to meet the property owner's dad who lives nearby. He was the greatest! He told us of a great pizza place (Villa Rosa), checked in to make sure we didn't need anything. He was available without being intrusive and we really appreciated how he looked out for us. We had not brought towels and he furnished them for us. The place was comfortable and had everything we needed to cook. The beds were comfortable. It could easily have held 7-11 people. We didn't stay in the studio part but it was adorable. My only complaint was with loud/older air conditioning units when trying to sleep, but they served their purpose. I used ear plugs without a problem, which I bring when I travel anyway. The host was communicative and helpful, and again, her dad made our stay even better with his kindness and how he looked out for us. We would stay there again for sure!

Great for a Beach Weekend!

The lawn was a bit overgrown, and we had a little trouble with the locking mechanism, but overall we had a great time! The beach access was a quick walk with easy instructions, the chairs were a great touch, and the rooms were all comfortable. Thank you for a wonderful weekend!

Great location!

A disappointing stay
Publié le 14 juill. 2024 sur HomeAwayThis property is undergoing renovations. Needs a good weed wacking all around the perimeter of house. Inside was dirty with lots of dog hair on furniture. Kitchen equipped with very wornout teflon coated pots and pans. We dealt with ants in the kitchen (owners brought ant traps which helped) and MANY big flies in the suite. Nothing was done to help alleviate that problem. No hot water in the suite bathroom. We would not stay at this house again.

Hi Christina, this was a disappointing experience for us as well. As you know and as was communicated to you, the group that checked out the morning of your arrival left the property in an extreme state of uncleanliness. They also had a long haired dog. We allot 6 hours between guests to clean which normally only takes 3-4 hours (two extra hours added in case of poor condition). This took our cleaning crew more than 6 hours which gives you an idea of how the property was left.
When you arrived the floors were still drying as you know. Within 2 hours of you informing us of the need for additional cleaning and other issues, we came out to clean and address. At that time you were offered a full refund for your stay but you stated you wanted to continue the reservation.
Regarding the bugs/ants, we are located in a wooded part of Michigan and we've had an unusally warm winter which has resulted in an increased number of bugs as larvae did not freeze during the winter. This increase in bugs is occurring throughout the midwest.
We have replaced the teflon coated pans so thank you for informing us about that. There was hot water in the suite bathroom bathroom, however the handle was reversed hot/cold so by turning the "hot" handle only cold water came out. This has since been corrected.
I appreciate your feedback and sorry your stay was so egregious.

Hidden gem / pleasant surprise - will return!

Great deck and fenced in backyard with large shade trees allowed us to spend every waking hour outside, comfortably, with pets. While located on Red Arrow Highway, noise was not a problem for us and this property has unique beach access privileges - which we very much leveraged. Owner was present and helpful / accomodating. We had a great stay!

Just right
Publié le 29 juin 2024 sur HomeAwayThe home was clean and roomy with everything we needed. I like the suite with the separate entrance for some peace and quiet from the younger part of the group! The beach was absolutely beautiful and just a short walk away, but prepare for a tough hike back, all uphill, when you’re done!
Nearby New Buffalo was a gorgeous beach town with shops and restaurants aplenty! Its public beach was also lovely!
