The rains we've had over the previous 2 weeks (5" one night) turned our place into what seemed to be an Amazonian rain forest. Hence, mosquitoes. I've lived here 45 years and never seen mosquitoes like this. However, from the first day we opened Acorn Lodge over 8 years ago we've provided bug spray bottles at about 15 locations along our trails and around the lodge itself. At the River House there's a screened in place to sit and observe nature. We screened it in because there's no electricity there and didn't want our guests to have bugs ruining their vacations here. The but spray bottles were available for Kapina's use when she arrived. In fact, Kapina and her husband both thanked me upon their arrival for our attention the bug spray so widely available.. We live next door to the lodge and have a workman rebuilding a shed at our place. He he works from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm by simply keeping the bug spray bottle on hand, so we figured all were doing the same around us. But we have taken Kapina's concern a step further and have ordered mosquito zappers for the back deck. They can be picked up and moved to locations around the lodge, such as the fire circle. Plus, there's about five bug spray bottles immediately outside the lodge at all of the benches. We at Acorn Lodge have been supplying our guests with bug spray bottles for over eight years now, and this is the first time we've had a complaint about them. Kapina and family were tremendous guests and we were happy to have them here. I can double the bug spray bottles for you next time if you wish, Kapina, but hopefully we'll never see the likes of this much rain and wetness again.
