The motel is located in old downtown Las Vegas, so don't expect lush surroundings like the Strip. Since it's on a main street, there can be some car noises late at night. It's only a few minutes drive from supermarket and inexpensive family/fast food restaurants, so very convenient for taking care of basic needs. The staff was friendly and helpful during my check-in. I only stayed three nights, didn't ask for housekeeping service, so can't comment on that. The room itself appeared to have been renovated some time in the past. Things looked a bit dated now but were still in good condition. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. If i were staying longer, I'd have used the small kitchen to save on meals, but not this time. If you're a glamorous tourist, this place is not for you. But if you're a practical traveler looking for value and can handle yourself in an older neighborhood, I'd recommend you take a look at this motel. I myself will definitely consider staying here again.

Carl, this is Michael Schwalbe, the Desert Moon Motel's owner, and proud Las Vegas local. I so appreciate you staying with us, and also appreciate all the time you spent writing up such a thorough review! I think you definitely hit the highlights: clean, convenient, friendly, renovated, and a great value. And, we're authentic Vintage Vegas! The Desert Moon has been welcoming travelers for over 70 years and counting. I'm so glad we can count you as one of them. Cool days, warm nights, and safe travels to you!

I had the best hotel manager/host (Natalie I believe) that I’ve ever had. Very accommodating, communicative, and kind. The room was really clean and the area is fairly quiet. It’s a little out of the way from the major tourist spots so keep that in mind :) would recommend if you don’t mind having a little bit of a drive to your destinations

Hey Jesse! Michael Schwalbe here, the owner of the Desert Moon. Isn't Natalie just the greatest? One of my favorite parts of reading every new guest review is getting to see everyone learning what real customer service is like, in her capable hands. I might own the place, but she's the real alpha in our little pack of desert wolves. And guess what -- you're part of that pack now too! Thanks for trusting us with your stay, and may you have cool days, warm nights, and safe travels!

From the get go, the check in staff person was super gracious and explained all the quirks of the property in advance. My kids were a bit skeptical about the location & exterior, but once you step into your unit, you are transported to a high end big buck ultra cool unit. Some reviewers may not be ready for the full Fremont experience, especially if they come from a cocoon of suburbia. I am 66 yrs old and loved walking a few extra blocks to places like the Ferguson with ultra hip coffee shop, F Bar! Etc. If you are timid or unhip, there are other choices, but this old fart loved it!

Your humble desert wolf Michael Schwalbe here, the owner of the Desert Moon Motel. Stephen, I'm so pleased you enjoyed your experience with us, and I couldn't agree more. It's a paradox, really -- the glitziest parts of the city are by FAR the most unsafe. The Strip, the middle of the Experience, the malls. Meanwhile, our neighborhood might not be the prettiest, but it's quiet, it's convenient, and most of all, it's safe! I appreciate your generous review tremendously. It's been a long 3 years since I bought the place, and I can't tell you how gratifying it is that the city and the travelers that visit it alike are really starting to notice what a hidden gem the Desert Moon Motel is. We've worked hard, and the best kept secret of Fremont is finally starting to spread! Cool days and warm nights be yours on your travels, and we'll see you again soon.

Candice, you and I have something very important in common. We both love Natalie! She's the best manager on Fremont, and that's a Vegas bet I'd take any time. This is the Desert Moon Motel's owner Michael Schwalbe, and I hope you'll let me know ahead of time if there's a single thing we could do to make your next stay even better. One thing I've promised for the three years I've owned the place that will never change so long as I do -- every time you visit, you'll find it even better than the time before. We've constantly got our eyes on the next upgrade, the next investment, the next improvement. And we can't wait to share what's next with you. See you again soon, I hope!

The inside in fine. The outside is dirty and the area is crime ridden. Be prepared to deal with druggies Everytime you leave your room.

Yet another instance of a guest leaving a bad review only after they were denied service for damaging our furnishings. Ronald enjoyed our location and amenities enough to book a second stay next week, but was politely refused service after we discovered his dog had urinated on a mattress (twice), saturating it badly enough that it had to be replaced. He never encountered a 'druggie, report any incidents, or lodge complaints of any sort during his first stay. The make-believe maladies only come up after we turned him down for future reservations. Go figure!

I've stayed at many hotels and motels around the Vegas area over the past several years, and Desert Moon Motel is clearly putting in the effort. The area around the hotel is sketchy, but they have plenty of security camera coverage and have done their best to mitigate potential issues. I had zero issues while there, and though the building is quite old, they are clearly putting in a significant effort to keep it updated and enjoyable. The room that I had was very quiet, and it was probably the best rest I've gotten in Vegas yet. Everything looked new or relatively new. Modern fixtures, beautiful tile, and a 4K TV that didn't give me any hassle when connecting my own devices. After checking in on Friday, I had a question Sunday evening, and the manager addressed me by name without even having to give my room number. The staff at Desert Moon Motel actually care about their guests and the facility. Quite the change from my usual experience in Vegas. I would definitely class Desert Moon Motel among the hidden gems of Vegas.

Wow, Scott! You've made my day! This is Michael Schwalbe, desert wolf and proud owner of the Desert Moon Motel. The only thing I take more seriously than my guests' comfort is my guests' security. We've never had a single incident of random crime on the property in my 3 years of ownership, and I aim to keep it that way. And we really do care about our property and our guests, it's not just a gimmick -- the reason why? Because we aren't owned by corporate investors or faceless suits. The Desert Moon Motel is a single-owner (me) property, and it's my only property, so we've got to make sure we get it right! Thanks for the wonderful review and for trusting your stay to our little motel. Cool days and warm nights t'ya, and safe travels!

Nice place in a not so great area.

Publié le 15 oct. 2024 sur Hotels
I needed a place at the last minute. This place cane up on Hotels app. Got there, easy check-in, room was across the parking lot from office. Room was clean and comfortable. Shower was good too, though I ran out if hot water faster than I'd like. A/C worked great too. Had to go back because I forgot something and they were very nice about it.

Howdy Chris -- this is Michael Schwalbe, desert wolf and the Desert Moon Motel's owner. Every traveler ultimately wants the same things: cold AC, hot water, a clean room, a comfy bed, a safe stay, and peace of mind amidst the hectic chaos of a journey through Las Vegas. That's the bare minimum, as far as I'm concerned. Add convenience, a great price, and the best customer service anywhere in Las Vegas, and then I start being satisfied. If we missed the mark on any of the above during your stay, let me know. I'll personally make sure we turn that 8 into a 10 on your next visit. Cool days and warm nights to you, and safe travels!

Fine for a cheap stay, a little dicey

Publié le 14 oct. 2024 sur Hotels
Chose this motel for a quick stay to get a break from our camper van and take a real shower. Truthfully just chose it because I didn’t want to spend much. This part of Fremont Street is pretty sketchy. Lots of folks down on their luck, on drugs, and mentally ill. It’s close enough to the Strip that we took a $20 Lyft to Caesar’s Palace which was fine, but on the way back our Lyft driver didn’t even want to take us back to this part of town. The front desk gal when we checked in was incredibly kind and we had a good chat, but the next morning when we were getting ready to leave I couldn’t get anyone in the front desk for a hair dryer until after 10:00. The room itself was fairly clean (just don’t look in the kitchenette drawers), and bed was comfortable, but most of all we just couldn’t relax in this part of town. We each got up twice in the night to check on our car.

This is Michael Schwalbe, the owner of the Desert Moon Motel. I'll always be frank about what we can do to improve our rooms and amenities if we come up short, and I'll also be frank about when a review is crap. This review is crap. A prime example of guests from out of town letting personal bias and racism color their perceptions. Let's clear the air. Our part of Fremont St. is NOT sketchy. I'd walk down it at midnight. Natalie, our manager, drives a 2015 Mercedes. It's always parked right by the sidewalk. In 3 years, it's never had a single break-in. In fact, in the 3 years I've owned the property, not a single car on-site has. Nor a single room. In fact, we've never had a single incident of random crime on our property. Not one! But you know where random crime is rampant? Where all those "folks down on their luck, on drugs, and mentally ill" actually are? They're lining the Strip. They're lining the Fremont St. Experience. You know, those places you're coming to this city to visit. Our motel is damn near the safest place on Fremont, and frankly, your paranoia and racism are no excuse for leaving us a mediocre review. "We each got up twice in the middle of the night to check on our car." Pathetic, honestly.
