Beautiful grounds and pool, the apartment was very comfy

Great remote location for some peace and quiet
Publié le 21 août 2023 sur HotelsIf you want a place away from it all this is it. It consists of a few apartments in the hills about 15 minutes from the coast. The place was really clean and had everything required. Our apartment had views out to the sea and it was great sitting on the terrace having breakfast overlooking everything. Giuseppe was super helpful, and available most of the day. The little shop was a great help, it was good to get some fresh croissants and bread each morning. Our son loved all the animals on site, including the super friendly dogs and goats, but they kept out of the way if you didn't want to interact with them. The pool was perfect and never busy. The main thing to be aware of is the drive up to the place, it's over 1km up a dirt road, which is quite rough in places. There were no issues for us as we went very slowly, but not something to try if you aren't a confident driver, especially if you meet another car you might have some way to reverse.

As the other reviews states this is a hidden gem, serviced and maintained by Giuseppe, where you can spend some days off the grid with your loved ones.
This was unfortunately ruined by BED BUGS in our room.
After the first night I woke up with a lot of bites on both hands, arms, and feet, on my back and in the neck. They looked like mosquito bites, so even though there were that many, I did not pay that much attention to it and thought that one of our kids might have forgotten to close the mosquito net.
But then during the day my left arm and foot, which had the most bites, started to swell and on the following morning my foot was so swollen that I had difficulties in wearing my shoes. The characteristic with three bites in a row and the bites turning red and into blisters with infection made the easy conclusion that this could only be bed bugs. I am also not allergic to mosquitos, which I already had plenty of bites from in Taormina. So, we contacted Giuseppe, who then changed the linen. I informed him that this would not solve the issue, so he called the management. Their first response was that this could not be the case, because Giuseppe did not find any bugs in the bed and as my wife also did not get any bites, it must have been something else. If you just do some simple research on it, you will know that even if people sleep in the same bed, not all get bitten and even so, not all get the same reaction.

However, on the following morning of the second night, you reported a severe reaction to some bug ( in us opinion mosquito) bites. It is worth mentioning that none of the other members of your family, including your wife who shared the same bed, experienced any bites. When you brought this to our attention, we took immediate action to address the situation.We promptly changed all the bed linen and thoroughly inspected the bedroom, mattress, and other relevant areas with your active involvement. No signs of bed bugs were found, such as blood spots, bedbug feces, shed skin, eggs, or any noticeable odor. Despite our efforts to investigate, no evidence of bed bugs was discovered during the inspection.Nonetheless, we wanted to ensure your comfort and satisfaction, so we promptly arranged for a deep cleaning of the bedroom and took additional precautions. It is important to emphasize that you did not experience any further issues during your third and final night with us, and neither did the other rest of your family.We understand your concern and the discomfort you experienced, but we assure you that we took your report seriously and responded promptly and thoroughly. We apologize if there was any misunderstanding about our intentions. Our aim was to provide exceptional service and promptly address any concerns raised by our guests.We recommend that upon returning home, you consult a healthcare professional to conduct allergy tests and provide a comprehensive evaluation. It is essential to rely on proper medical advice rather than quick internet searches to determine the cause of skin reactions.Once again, we apologize for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding.
