Unique property, but a mixed bag......
Publié le 7 juin 2021 sur HomeAwayRented this property for Memorial Day weekend to be within easy drive or Pedernales State Park, Balcones Wildlife Refuge and the local wineries in the area. As the review title states....this experience was a mixed bag. I can't say there was good and bad, rather there was good and somewhat frustrating......but not bad.
The Good: Property is definitely unique. Very clever setup and we didn't feel cramped being just the two of us and two small dogs Appliances are new and the hotplate and toaster oven were adequate for meal preparation. Good utensils and there was some leftover spices if needed. Towels, bath soap, shampoo and conditioner provided (no washcloths or dish towels). Never had any issue with the Netflix.
The Frustrating: As I mentioned, we had two small (6lb and 20lb) dogs with us. Immediately upon arrival, we noticed the lawn area around the container completely overgrown. This made it difficult for the dogs to do their business. Yard remained this way the entire weekend, even though Matt did mow the yard around his house. Also, pet owners need to be aware that there is a dog roaming free on the property. Buddy seems like a sweet, gentle dog, but our dogs don't socialize with other dogs so we were always having to keep a look out for Buddy. Also, there are 3 goats on the property. We couldn't let the dogs out until we cleared the area of the goats. Plus, the goats like to leave their droppings on the patio which we ended up clearing twice a day. The path from the truck to the door had 3 piles of goat droppings we had to walk through at check-in. Wanted to grill hamburgers one night, but the grill is a rusty mess. Ended up frying the patties inside. Finally....if you rent this property be aware that there is NO external lock on the container Anyone on the property (there's a second rental property) could enter while you are not there. We took everything of value with us daily. The slider DOES lock from the inside.
Overall.....we did enjoy the stay but it could have been better. I also feel we didn't receive adequate value at this price point.

Thanks for the review Kurt but to be clear about a few things, there is not a “hot plate” rather a Double Induction Cooktop. There were no dish towels but four rolls of Bounty Paper Towels were provided and as to the Grill there are two. Had you said something I could have pointed you in the direction of the second one. If a guest does not ask or articulate a frustration to the host how are they supposed to make it right? If you were in a hotel you’d call the front desk if you needed something. Any future guest reading this if frustrated about anything during your stay let me know and allow me the opportunity to give you 5 star service. A high rating does not always mean that no problems occurred during a guest stay. A high rating could be about how a host rose to the occasion when a guest articulated something they found annoying. Communication is key! It’s also very important to READ. The email that is sent out upon
booking, tells all the guests that there are three goats that freely roam the ranch, as well as a large, but very friendly, dog. If a guests only looks at the pictures well then they are gonna be in for some surprises regardless of where the book. Lastly, there is a lock on the sliding glass door. The weekend prior to your arrival the guest broke the handle and while I was replacing it I broke the locking barrel and I had to order a new one. It has since been replaced and the door once again locks from the inside and outside

Extra space for our large group

Had to rent this property when renting main house for event.
Publié le 10 mai 2021 sur HomeAwayI was not planning on renting this property. 5 days before I was to stay at the sister property on site I was told I had to rent this property also because I was having people over for lunch after my daughters college graduation.

Thank you for pointing this out, Jamie. This was a result of you not thoroughly reading the listing, where it refers to having a party and that both listings would have to be rented at full capacity if there were going to be more than 15 people. I also sent you a message the day you made the booking, 2 months prior, saying both places would need to be booked in order to have a party. I do this so that if someone wants to rent this dwelling for a quiet night away, that they do not have to become part of someone else's celebration. The message you received 5 days prior was a REMINDER that you had not booked this dwelling and that you would need to for your party.

Very cool experience
Publié le 28 déc. 2020 sur HomeAwayThe ranch was very nice, we loved the goats! Owners did a great job with the tiny house, the bed upstairs was great. The place wasn’t ready on time and owner was abrupt at first but warmed up and made a fire for us.

If a guest decides to show up at 3:45pm instead of the 4pm check in time it is likely the dwelling will not be ready. We try to be a quick as we can but often need the entire time prior to the 4pm check in time to get the dwelling just right for the best stay possible. Sorry we were not able to accommodate your early arrival.
