Wonderful Getaway on the Bourbon Trail!
Publié le 4 nov. 2024 sur HomeAwayJennifer and Ben's property was just beautiful and exactly as listed. We so enjoyed our stay at Soggy Bottom Cottage! The grounds were lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed our daily walks along the property. The location was perfect as we visited a few distilleries during our stay. Jennifer gave us some wonderful restaurant recommendations that were close by. Both Jennifer and Ben were so welcoming but yet completely respected our privacy. The cottage had everything we needed and we appreciated the extra touches like the basket of fruit/munchies that we grabbed for our daily excursions. We would definitely stay here again!

Excellent stay
Publié le 8 juin 2024 sur HomeAwayLove the charm of the cottage. Peaceful. Highly recommend. Reasons for 4 vs 5 star are as follows: while place was a five star in the big scheme of things I did not realize that their main house was 30
Yards away ie right next door. On VRBO one would think you had complete isolation. 2. The pictures make you dream of sitting outside under the hemlocks in those chairs however they don’t really make this inviting. Chairs are not cleaned off. Outdoor eating table not cleaned off or inviting. Door to outside area on side has no stepping stones or pavers. So just stayed inside and enjoyed the amazing charm of the cottage itself. Also while I love dogs I don’t love dogs that jump on me when I’m getting out of the car and they have wet paws and I have on white.

I didn't realize the expectation for VRBO rentals was "complete isolation." Renters do need to know, this property is attached to our detached garage, across the driveway from the main house, as indicated in one of the property photos. Although your space is private, it is not isolated. I'm sorry this was an unpleasant surprise for you. I'm also sorry for the puppy's "jumps." We're working on training that out of him, but he/we have a long way to go. If you would like a partial reimbursement to cover a dry-cleaning bill (I know, not the point...), I'm happy to cover that (please LMK). As for the dirty chairs, I do sweep off pine needles and remove bird droppings before guests arrive, but once you're here, I don't approach the area until you leave. To address the possibility of a dirty patio table (certainly unpleasant to eat on), I'll begin providing a tablecloth for guests to place on the eating surface (good observation... thanks!). And lastly, the door out of the kitchen area was recently added to provide more privacy to guests. We plan to pour a patio at some point, but for now, the 2" step onto grass and gravel will have to suffice. Thanks for your input!

Absolutely perfect!
Publié le 15 avr. 2024 sur HomeAwayOur 2-night stay at Soggy Bottom Cottage couldn't have been more perfect. It's in a lovely quiet setting; secluded but close to Keeneland, distilleries, and restaurants.
The cottage is so cozy and welcoming that we could have stayed there relaxing the entire time.
Our hosts next door were kind and accommodating without being the least bit intrusive.
Expect an occasional visit from the resident pups and a cat with the air of a true Southern gentleman. We nicknamed him The Colonel.
We are already looking forward to our next stay.

Charming cozy cottage in beautiful horse country. Pleasant and peaceful setting with warm welcome by host who ensured that we had everything that we needed to make our stay enjoyable.

Great Cottage in a Beautiful Setting

The cottage itself is very comfortable and is decorated with original art. The hosts provide great hospitality with tons of fruit, snacks, and coffee waiting for us on our arrival. The champagne was a great touch for the New Years holiday.

Amazing Rental
Publié le 15 oct. 2023 sur HomeAwayThis rental is a jewel, from the location to the decor!! We loved everything about it! The cottage can be found on a beautiful Kentucky farm. The drive to the cottage is equally as gorgeous as you travel on a winding road flanked with stone "fencing" and horse farms. The cottage is decorated with the most unique and though provoking paintings by the owners mother. The bed is very comfortable, the shower is gorgeous with tile work and a large glass, while bourbon bottles and books about Kentucky adorn the cottage. The kitchen is very well stocked and our gracious host had cookies & a birthday balloon for me! Not to mention snacks and goodies for breakfast, milk and water in the fridge and a large assortment of coffees & teas. We enjoyed our time so much and will very likely book again in the future!!! Rent it....you will NOT be disappointed!
