Unrecognized Online reservation via Hotels.com

The hotel had no knowledge of "Hotels.com" booking arrangement. After making payments online via Hotels.com, and reserved a cottage, on arrive all cottages were fully booked and on top of it, was asked to pay for an alternative room. Since it was late in the night, had no option but to pay and stay the night. Both Hotels.com and 291 Suites were horrible. It would be good if Hotels.com refunded my money!
