Solar-powered holiday home in an old hamlet called Sanalvo. Quiet, unspoilt surroundings at the end of a private road with a view of the surrounding mountains. Due to the location of the house, you can assume that you are not in a tourist crowd. The German house managers take care of the cleanliness of the house. If you want, you can go for walks from the house. These are definitely free of tourists. The beautiful garden invites you to relax and get that real holiday feeling. Children can play here very well.
The private access road can be very washed out after rainfall (sandy path). The owner of the road (the neighbouring farmer) pushes the road with a digger from time to time, nevertheless it can happen that you have to drive up very slowly.
The house: 75 sqm plus 4 sqm "gallery", 2 large bedrooms, large eat-in kitchen, large bathroom, 2 terraces.
The garden is our pride and joy, it is adorned with two olive trees over 750 years old, several almonds, strelizias, bouganville, various palms. It is very shady. For relaxation, you can hang up the hammock or use the existing deckchairs. For the terraces there are wooden chairs and wooden table or ceramic/steel table (No plastic!). There is a swing on the one olive tree and a tree house. The house is situated in such a way that children can play safely outside. In the evening it is wonderfully quiet. There are sheep, dogs, cats and pigs (the latter free-range in the enclosure next door, approx. 4 - 8 animals on 4000 square metres of land, separated by a stone wall, they may be fed with the organic waste leftovers. They do not smell as they are kept naturally). In the garden there is also a small barbecue, which according to fire regulations may be used all year round, a large open barbecue (not in the summer months of July and August) and a pizza oven.
The kitchen is equipped with a lot of cooking utensils, i.e. pots, pans, lots of crockery (far beyond the normal for a holiday flat). Both bedrooms offer generous space (and wardrobes in each). There are numerous board games and books to borrow, and the bathroom is also pleasantly large (12 sqm). In the front bedroom there is a double bed and a cot (up to approx. 4 yrs). In the back bedroom there is a double loft bed (gallery, 2x2m) and a sofa bed for 2 adults, if desired.
Bedding is provided, bed linen and towels can be rented by arrangement and for a fee.
The house is managed by Bianca and Andreas, +393206504438. They live only about 3 km away. The money for the final cleaning (70 €) goes directly to them in cash on arrival.
The "old" farmhouse, which belongs to our neighbour Franco and is in our immediate vicinity, can also be rented. This is especially attractive if two families want to travel together. His house has five beds (one of which is a cot), a washing machine and television. We don't have the latter two things, as we are a solar-powered 12-volt house, where the switchable inverter delivers a maximum of 450 watts of power.
Our house is situated between Olbia and San Teodoro. 4.6 km from the coastal road, at 160 m above sea level. From Olbia with its ferry and airport it takes about 20 minutes to reach the house. Various beaches are in the immediate vicinity (from 8 min. by car. Sandy and rocky beaches with and without offers like surfing, diving, boat rental, etc.). All information about this can be found in two folders in the house. There is also information about possible excursions and hikes with times and ratings for family friendliness. A hike to the top of the hill (Punta Bella Vista) with a magnificent view is possible from the house (approx. 1.5 h up and 50 min. back)!
The house is solar powered! This means that the hot water is heated by a collector. The shower and rinse water is always more than sufficiently hot in the summer months, i.e. cold must always be added, in April/May/October bad weather can mean that the afternoon/evening is the better time to shower (if the collector has had enough time to warm up). A new efficient collector was purchased in March 2022 so that there is sufficient hot water even in the transitional periods. The electricity is supplied by solar panels. We have an inverter in the house. This can also be used to generate 230 volts. Otherwise, the house is designed for 12 volts. Mobile devices such as batteries for mobile phones, laptops and cameras can be charged with USB and/or a car adapter or by connecting the inverter (normal switch) with normal chargers.
No appliances over 450 watts can be operated (hair dryer, electric shaver )!!!! Due to these restrictions, our house is cheaper than houses in the surrounding area. We ask you to take this into account and consider it part of the rental agreement (not a reason for complaint, as it is known). We do not have our own washing machine for the same reasons. It can be used for a fee in any neighbouring larger town (launderettes in Porto San Paolo, Murta Maria, etc.). Costs about 3,5 € to 7 € for washing, 2 € for dryer).

Access to the house is via the private 600 m long driveway of our neighbour Franco. We have the right to use the road, but can only influence the quality of the sandy road to a limited extent. We regularly pay the farmer for maintenance, but it can still happen that the road is in a washed-out condition (especially after heavy rainfall). You always have to drive up slowly.
