Mediocre stay at Copthorne

A real benefit of this hotel is that it's in a quiet location, so sleep was undisturbed by noise of any kind (and I'm a light sleeper!). However, sleep was disturbed by the TV which kept randomly turning on even though it was being turned off. Rooms could do with a major refurb, there was some mold in the shower room and the air con / heater unit didn't work well. Also, we were waiting over 10+ minutes for a lift downstairs but most were out of order or full of people so we couldn't fit, so had to take the back route down the emergency exit stairs which was a maze. Beds were comfy and the hair dryer was a nice touch and the staff were all really nice.

Didn't get to stay because of Storm

I contact the hotel the night before we were due to stay to let them know that due to the storm we we unable to travel from Ireland and asked could they rebook us for another day.. ( the girl noted that the room was prepaid at this point, and I said yes but as we are not going to make it you can release the room and sell it to someone if it's needed ).. but as I had booked through 3rd party the hotel staff were not able to help me with this.. when I contacted the 3rd party( hotels com) they told me that it was up to the hotel if they would refund or rebook me as the price I paid was not a flexi rate. I understand this but the reason for us not getting to the hotel was not something that could be for seen .. the storm caused such damage in our area that we simply couldn't get to the airport to leave the country .. I would have been satisfied with even an offer of a discount off our stay when we do get to travel again but the person I spoke with didn't seem to want our custom again either way

I was first greeted by a very friendly reception team and check in was quick. The room was spacious and very clean. I also used the Bugis restaurant at the hotel and had the Nasi Goreng which was booming. Starters were a bit pricey for what you got but overall a good restaurant, very flavourful. Location is near tube and Hyde park . Excellent hotel

The good points about the Copthorne are the location, the pricing, the breakfast and the staff. I have stayed here many times over the years and it has not been refurbished for a long time and the rooms are getting very tired. It really does need a bit of work done to bring it up to 4 star quality.

It was fine

It was fine. Probably a really nice hotel 25 years ago, but doesn’t look like they’ve done anything to it since. Staff were really nice and helpful, bed was comfortable, and the price was good. I wouldn’t have put it as a 4 star hotel.

Great service and location

Great hotel. Friendly staff and the location is great, 5-10 min walk from High Street Kensington and the tube. Really reasonable priced too. Looking for a central location, then this is the place to stay.

Copthorne Tara provides very affordable accommodation in a really nice part of London easily accessible from Kensington High Street Tube which is only the 3rd stop from Paddington. The hotel is large and comfortable, I would describe the decor as a little dated but perfectly ok. The staff are very helpful and there are plenty of them in the busy reception area. The elevators are a bit of a nightmare on two occasions that we’ve stayed there a couple have been out of order and they seem to have a mind of their own, stairs are an option but not if you’re on the eleventh floor and you have luggage. Also a little disappointed with the bar closing at midnight, whilst there is a self-service bar in reception, the hard chairs and relative darkness of this area did not make it welcoming. We only wanted a quiet drink after returning from a show, and this (in my opinion) was not a good option, for a hotel if this size and location the bar should be open until at least 0100. The breakfast was great, lots of choice and veggie options on request. I would definitely stay here again, in fact I’m booked in again in March. On the whole a nice, comfortable hotel in a nice accessible part of London.
