My "room" was apparently once a stair landing. The door was 2" lower than my head. My knees sitting on the toilet were in the bedroom. The mirror had a sticker that read, "Non Potable Water" next to a water glass. The radiator has cold water in it. I asked for heat. They turned it on for ten minutes. The exterior looks nice.
Have stayed twice before & have been more than satisfied. On this occasion could only acquire a shared bathroom/convenience, which was quite far from the room. Just personally, could have done with a bigger, bed.
We were on the top floor and it’s a long way up! If you have any mobility issues please be aware. It was quite a noisy hotel in the evening from other guests. I am not sure if we were unlucky but i expected it to be quieter in the family rooms. The hotel is run down although the beds were very comfy. The shower got hot after running for 5 minutes so be patient. The kettle can only be plugged in if you put it on the floor. I thought this was a significant safety hazard for families with young children. I wouldn’t stay here again for the price we paid although the location to central london and paddington was excellent.

Friendly and welcoming team, my room was clean and comfortable with everything working.
Pathetic small rooms at high price . No elevator in a 3 floor hotel. Breakfast not included. Staff discourteous and rude. No ahampoo in bathroom. Scant soapn!
If the hotel was not at walking distance from the Paddington station would have changed it.
You have what you pay for. I travel to London once or twice a year and always stay in budget hotels in Norfolk Square for the price and location. This was my 1st time to stay in the Shakespeare and I would definitely book again. Our room was clean and spacious, the shower was hot, there was a fridge, the bed was comfy, a tasty continental breakfast including scrambled eggs and beans included in the room price, staff were friendly and helpful. Yes you can hear the tubes under the flooring on the ground and basement rooms but thats sort of obvious when your on top of one of the biggest tube station networks in London nothing that a good sleeper or a pair of ear plugs cant sort out
For the price we paid it is a great choice for hotel. Excellent location. Just around the corner from the T. Breakfast was very nice. Staff was very attentive. I see others complaining about stairs. But common it is an old building. Very charming. Yes there is no elevator. But not a big deal for me. Rooms were tidied every day. We really enjoyed it. Although walls are a bit thin.

Last minute but fine
It was a last minute booking. It was fine.
Breakfast was good and a sensible price.
Hotel is a little tired but adequate and friendly.
I'll consider it in future.
