We travelled through 4 countries in Europe in 2.5 weeks and the Travelodge was by far the worst experience. The bathroom was ok no visible hair, didn’t feel comfortable walking barefoot though, towels had stains, basically water filled in soap dispensers in the shower and to wash hands. Only two towels provided and no toilet paper top up. Fan was broken and no AC. No safe. You could hear everything, sounded like doors being slammed every time someone left their room. Location was ok if familiar with the tube but not really close to anything touristy. Would never recommend or go back.
No Air Condoning in the rooms makes it very uncomfortable to sleep at night!

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Staff exceptionally friendly and helpful. Allowed me to early check in (mid-afternoon) which was great. One staff member was able to give me directions to everything I needed. Forget his name, black, a bit older than the rest of the staff, knew where to find everything!
Downside: no air conditioning and it was HOT! Global warming is here--time to put a/c units in each room. Forced to open the window and it was loud outside with a local event, garbage trucks, and drunk people all night. You also need better maps of the area, not just the free maps from the city where everything is so small you can't read it.

The reception team were remarkably helpful, good natured and genuine.
We were here pre Christmas and other guests were incredibly noisy banging doors and talking in corridors from very early morning. Single bed in the room was dreadful - you could feel every spring. hotel was close to tube and very central for major London attractions.
Very handy to several tube lines, nice pubs and restaurants in the area.

Clean, close to transportation
Small room but I expected that for London and for the price paid. No air conditioning and no ice machine (could get ice at the bar a glass at a time), this is something I think you should know ahead of time. Room was clean, but on the second and third day the cleaning staff did not removed used glasses from the room. Was close to transportation services (about 30 minutes to get anywhere of interest). Food (off menu) in the restaurant was not very good (breakfast was okay though). Service outside of breakfast was slow.

Not too sure what's new about the travel lodge
The room we had overlooked the barracks room 415 I believe. I struggled to find what was new and amazing about the rooms, the bathroom was tiny the bath was tiny I am 5ft and just had enough room to sit up with legs out stretched in the bath. My partner could not have a bath. The room had only a bed, and dressing table and somewhere to hang clothes, although there was a lof of floor space left, there was nothing to fill it. A sofa or little table and chair would have been nice. I've stayed in plenty of Premier Inn's and can honestly say that there rooms and décor are much better. The bed was comfy, staff pleasant and food ok, portions were very small, I ordered pasta and thought I had been given a child's portion. Décor of bedroom especially around the windows needed some attention as you could see black marks coming through the paintwork. Overall felt the room was very cold looking.

What air conditioning?
Used this hotel the night before the PruLondon cycle ride. Good price, and hotel is pretty basic. Suitable for my purpose but I wouldn't want to spend much time here- the room was stuffy and very warm- if there was aircon it didn't work, and the alternative small fan was far too noisy to leave on overnight.
Staff were helpful, and sympathetic to bicycles being kept in the room, which was a huge plus.
Stayed here for my 20th birthday. Had an amazing experience. Went to the shop only to come back and find a lovely staff member in our room with a bottle of wine for us and a card xx
The breakfast was good.. would stay there again.
Thank you Travelodge team at London City Road xx
We stayed for one night on Good Friday. The check in was efficient & informative. The room was clean & comfortable. Our room was located on the 2nd floor, which was quiet. We had an excellent breakfast at the café. We would stay here again. It was very convenient & at a bargain price.
We were very pleased with the service we received from the staff. They couldn't have been more helpful especially as Expedia had made a mistake with our rooms. We are a family of 5, children 17, 15 and 11 and they only booked us 1 room! When we arrived the staff sorted out two rooms for us at no extra cost.
Pleasant staff at check-in and check-out, easy process. Also, an automated check-in machines available.
Spacious bedroom and shower.
Negative item was a not appealing window.
Equipment basic but more than sufficient for one night stay after a Christmas party.

Hotel
Hotel was far to expensive for what you got,
broken flusher on the toilet,
2 x hand towles to dry yourselfs after a shower,
got back to the hotel after a night out and having had to wait 10 minutes to get in the building,
no breakfast included,
no parking facilleties,
i will not be recomened this hotel to anyone.
