23rd Anniversary
Publié le 10 nov. 2024 sur HomeAwayHad a great weekend at Captain's cabin. we immediately started a fire in the fireplace and enjoyed the quiet popping and warmth of the fire all weekend. Tammy's breakfasts are outstanding. Found some fun things to do in town when we finally pealed ourselves from the cabin.

Cozy cabin in the woods
Publié le 28 oct. 2024 sur HomeAwayThis was the perfect place for a fall getaway. It was peaceful and felt isolated, even though everything you need or want was a short drive. The cabin is spectacular and the hosts are outstanding. I hope we can return!

Captain's Cabin
Publié le 23 oct. 2024 sur HomeAwayThe cabin was gorgeous with lots of amazing antiques and memorabilia. The hosts were sweet and doting, leaving us lots of treats and things. They do live RIGHT next door, almost on top of the cabin, which could be a negative if you are wanting more privacy or a more remote location. We loved having a fireplace we could actually use (many places don't let you build a fire). So relaxing! Having a Sleep Number bed was a huge plus. All in all, it was homey and comfortable. We enjoyed the beauty of the lake, creek, and fall foliage.
of little treats and things.

Lovely stay in historic cabin
Publié le 9 sept. 2024 sur HomeAwayOn arrival we were greeted by tammy who explained all about the cabin and how far it dated back, cablin is decorated in period style but with all the mod cons you would need. We were travelling around Kentucky and this was the perfect place to unwind. Enjoyed meeting captain and the fairy show at night.

Much Needed Getaway After and Before Medical Procedures
Publié le 13 août 2024 sur HomeAwayAfter several months of medical treatment and with more to come, we found one weekend where we could get away. I needed a change of scenery and to feel like I was doing something normal. We didn't want to spend to much time traveling so we picked Louisville, 2 hours away and near our son and daughter-in-law. Captains Cabin provided just what we needed. It felt like we had really gone on vacation! It was perfect. In my communication with the owner I had shared my medical situation and the hosts went over and above making us feel cared for. Our son and daughter in law came over one evening and fell in love with the place and are thinking of trying to stay there for their baby moon! Thank you Captain's Cabin for the best weekend getaway we could have imagined.

Wow!
Publié le 26 juin 2024 sur HomeAwayKarl and Melanie from Alabama:
Amazing, authentic,1800's log cabin with all the modern amenities (A/C, Fridge, Microwave, Stove/Oven, Coffee Pot, Keurig and a Sleep Number Bed). Our hosts, Jan and Tammy & Captain their very calm dog, welcomed us and we immediately felt like we had been long time neighbors. Jan and Tammy were both there for us if we needed anything but also gave us our space.
Melanie and I were there to visit our daughter who recently relocated to Louisville. We unloaded a U-Haul full of her things and the cabin was the perfect place to rest, and recover. We spent hours each morning just sitting on the front porch drinking coffee and taking in the beautiful setting. On Saturday and Sunday Tammy brought delicious gourmet breakfasts to our front door (Bacon Egg and Cheese Croissants, Cheese Grits and a Bourbon Apple Pie Saturday, and a Sausage/Egg/ Cheese/Hash Brown Casserole, a Raisin Bourbon Bread Pudding and a huge bowl of Blueberries, Strawberries, and Grapes with Balsamic Vinegar on Sunday). Trust me, I'm a regular ole grits and eggs guy...It was all delicious.
The surroundings are full of beautiful flowers and trees. It's just a short walk (or you can drive) to the creek or pond. The fire pit sits down from the cabin in the open area below Jan and Tammy's house We saw deer, ducks rabbits, a weasel, and the creek is full of crawdads.
We had a wonderful time visiting with our daughter and playing in the creek. Jan and Tammy were wonderful hosts as well.
