Nice hotel in centre of the town. Nicely furnished and nice toiletries. Staff really friendly and place felt relaxed. Position means you’re straight in the town which was quiet at night and you can walk everywhere. I found a little spot to eat which was very nice just down the road but there were multiple options. My only quibble was that as an old hotel it didn’t have air con on what was a very hot day. They did leave the window open and a big fan which helped.

We arrived at the property at 7.40pm expecting to eat dinner. We were met by the only employee on site who said that he was just about to try ringing us as his shift was about to finish and he would be locking up at 8pm. We asked about food and we were told that no food was available after 3pm. Amazing for a 4star hotel reputed to be the best in Louth!
I should say that the employee concerned was helpful in advising us where to get food and he gave us a front door key. We did find something suitable in good time.

In the evening, we are only open on Friday & Saturday evenings, we are sorry if this is disappointing.We do try to make this as clear as possible on our website, and as soon as you have booked we follow up with an email stating all our bistro opening hours to help guests make plans for dinner.Thankfully our little town is made up mostly of restaurants, so right on our doorstep there is a choice of Italian, Indian, Moroccan, British and much more. We would hope that the rest of your stay in our rooms, the freshly cooked breakfast the next morning and the service would be worth more than a 1 star, so we would be disappointed if our bistro opening hours is the cause for the poor rating.Thank you
