Charming country cottage

Publié le 21 oct. 2024 sur HomeAway
The property is tucked away at the end of a long driveway behind some beautiful trees and hedges. The property is clean, tidy and has everything needed for a relaxed stay. The rooms have views of garden and farmland which only goes to ensure a sense of peacefulness.

Fabulous Farm Accommodation

It is a fabulous spot. As a city person, a farm is refreshing. It was so nice we decided we would rather stay than go into town in the evenings.

Beautiful, quiet country stay

We had a lovely long weekend at Exeter Cottage. Driving down the tree-lined driveway with all the Autumn colours showing was beautiful. The cottage is tucked away by gorgeous hedges and gardens, making it lovely and private. The lounge area and beds were extremely comfortable. With only 10 minutes to Orange and 15 minutes to Millthorpe, it was a great location in the very quiet and scenic countryside.

Lovely and quiet

Crumpet the poodle was so adorable. I had to clean bathroom and shower as this had not been done properly. WiFi not dependable but to be honest, this only adds to the charm. Fantastic location though. Would stay again, especially if more attention was paid to cleaning prior to new stayees.

Exeter Cottage is very well laid out and extremely comfortable. The fridge was stocked with everything you need after a long drive and for a decent breakfast the next day. The beds were comfortable, and there were enough towels on site for a month. The washing machine was handy. It was unbelievably quiet, with the only real sound being sheep baa-ing (?). The place is dog-friendly, and our 8-month-old labrador had a ball. The host's dogs are well-behaved and caused us no trouble. The farm dog that came to say hello responded immediately to a whistle. My grizzle is the wi-fi as there ain't any. We were unsuccessful in convincing our 16-year-old that not having Wi-Fi was really a blessing. The Smart TV was even more useless due to the lack of a TV aerial, so there were no free-to-air channels either. For electric vehicle drivers, I recommend that you ask before plugging in. I didn't ask, and the EV was unceremoniously unplugged. I'm not entirely sure that asking would've helped, but it meant I had to crawl back to Bathurst for a charge to continue a trip anywhere. If you drive an EV and like being attached to the outside world via the internet, this place is not for you. We will, however, be back (if they'll take us), and I'll be sure to have as much charge as I can upon arrival to at least get to Bathurst, but without a second car, you won't be able to go anywhere. As for the Wi-Fi, download what you can onto your iPad before leaving home.

Gorgeous location

Publié le 23 oct. 2023 sur HomeAway
We loved Exeter Cottage, but unfortunately we had no wifi, which means no way to watch TV/stream shows etc. So if you're staying here, we would suggest making sure it's fully functional. We got it to work for about 5 mins and then after that we couldn't fix it. On the plus side, it's very comfortable, roomy, quiet, beds are superb and the property itself is gorgeous. Plus it's pet friendly, so there's many pluses. Cleaning wise it's very good, however the cupboards needed a wipe down, as did the mirror in the bathroom. But otherwise very clean. Also we couldn't find any tea towels, but that's not a deal breaker. To summarise, we'd stay there again, despite a few things, but we would be sure to check the internet situation before we confirm any bookings. If those things above can be fixed, we'd have given it 5 stars.

Cottage two queen beds one bathroom sits behind large wall of hedging. I rang host as I had not received any property instructions and was told the key will be in the door. Upon arrival no key in door home left unlocked. No instructions for property, no internet or TV connected. False and misleading advertising. No one around to ask for assistance. Sparse kitchen utensils no tea towel to dry dishes. Listed as pet friendly, another misleading claim. As my dog was attacked by pack of dogs outside of the cottage in the driveway as we unpacked our car. One employee drove a farm vehicle at high speed around a blind bend with the dogs following which startled us and my dog. Lucky, I had just moved as I would have been run down by the person. The dogs proceeded to attack my little dog. The employee sat there on the farm vehicle and did nothing. There are no warnings about dogs. We were not out of area we were outside the cottage placing items inside for the stay. Contacted the host via text given no assistance. Attended a vet to stop bleeding and stitched my little dog plus medications to fight infection very costly. Spent the two nights terrified the dogs would come back. As the property did not control their dogs of which is the responsibility of the property owner. I have sent the vet bill to owner without any response.

Cosy

This was a quite pleasant stay bar difficulties with the provision of internet accessibility. The owners are clearly people of some taste and style, with the property quite elegantly presented. We met one of the owners as we arrived and he was an affable and courteous man. The internet access was an issue. After initially being able to access the internet, it dropped out and we were not able to access it again. Free to air television was not available because the screen is a monitor. Normally, I wouldn't be fussed by this (what price rural seclusion?) but we were travelling with an older family member who wished to watch the nightly news. Communication with the contact point was fitful, and it is best not to use the app at all for communication Otherwise, it was a very pleasant stay and the comforts of the cottage cannot be faulted bar the small issue of a missing lightbulb in the main bedroom bedside lamp Bon vacance!

Comfortable - Stay again

Needs an access map. Main access is blocked. Second access via sat nav 14km. Take dirt road only 4 km. Google access end on a grass road and farm gate. Please provide clear road map or directions. Otherwise very good place to stay and relax.
