Rooms are dated, updates are being dohe for mattresses at min currently. Our room had carpet that turned our socks black, and the floor in the bathroom tyrned the towels black from existing dirt.
The location is PRIME if youvwant beach access, marina access, and downtown access (all 2 blocks). The staff was all bery friendly and accommodating with refils on paper goods and towels.
A little TLC and this motel could be the hotest one available!

Based on the outside pic, I thought the Ventura would be a quirky, vintage motel. However, I found the room horrible. Broken soiled furniture, cramped quarters, doorless hangerless closet, plus a (working!) window air conditioner. There was a crappy little table that you could use either as a table, or for your luggage, but not both simultaneously. There's nowhere else for your luggage other than the bed or the floor. The lobby was interesting with its plexiglass partition separating me from the attendant. Quirky indeed! And speaking of the floor, thank goodness it was NOT carpet. At least with the vinyl plank my socks could detect the overall cleanliness. Yes, it had a TV. fridge and coffee maker, and the room was clean ...enough (I chose not to look too closely.)
I needed a convenient place to stay to sail the following morning on the SS Badger car ferry. I guess the room suited that need, but at $125/night, I'll find somewhere else next time.

One of the cheapest motels i was able to find closest to the Fourth, yes it's old-fashioned, a bit dated, but it was a 5 minute walk from Stearns Park/beach/lighthouse etc. and a 5 min walk from the center of downtown. No complaints, honestly.

Bed was small and hard, bathroom was cheap looked like black mold in the shower.
