Is a old hotel but with the necessary stuff to stay to sleep, I like the area because it was close to the lake, famous stores like Gucci,Prada,etc …also is in the middle of the town where you can find a lot of cafes to eat or others restaurants. It was nice to be there.

Worst check on ever and hotels.com no help at all they had overbooked the hotel and even though we had paid and confirmed reservations from nov last year. The receptionist was so rude saying he couldn’t help us stating he wasn’t going to put himself on a cross for us!! Told us to get a refund and go find ourselves a room. They did give us alternative accommodation so far out of town and three hrs after our arrival. As I said disgusting service i have never been spoken to in such a rude manner and no regard for us at all

Dear Mrs. Price,Good evening from Lugano and the Hotel San Carlo.As we told you when you arrived at our Hotel, we sincerely apologize for what happened and for the inconvenience caused.We fully understand your state of mind and the resulting review which however should be at least truthful.It is true that due to a malfunction of our system your reservations ended up in overbooking, as it is equally true that the Receptionist you so much criticized proposed several alternative solutions, obviously at the expense of the Hotel, which you declined.Among the solutions proposed was also a Suite with a lake view at the Hotel Royal Splendide (a 5-star superior structure 2 minutes walk from the center of Lugano). Needless to say, this solution would also have been paid for by the Hotel.Once this solution was also declined, and as a consequence of the less than civil tone you used towards a person who was doing his job by proposing more than one solution, our Receptionist allowed himself to give the answer you cited.Ultimately, the Hotel that was quite far from the center and where you were staying, was your choice because, quoting the exact words, we prefer this solution to the Hotel Royal Splendide (honestly leaving both the management and the Receptionist astonished).Finally, we clarify that the transportation costs, as well as the accommodation, were entirely paid by the Hotel San Carlo, including the taxi that took you to the station the next day.Kind regards,Team Hotel San Carlo

Location is excellent and the manager was great to accommodate our request to change our room. The setup in this hotel was odd and two rooms had a sharing bathroom which was next to our room. Every time they used the bathroom we could hear the flushing and bathroom door. The second night the manager changed our room to different floor and we had a good night sleep.

Ideal location
Posted Sep. 16, 2024 on HotelsThe location was perfect. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The downside was that the ceiling fan and lights in our room did not work, and the bedding was too small for the bed. The top sheet and comforter were not wide enough to cover two people.
