We love sharing the beautiful space and landscape we’ve created by opening up our basement apartment to travelers. This apartment is completely private. It has a fully secure, independent entrance which you access through our backyard. There are no interior common areas as our two living spaces are separated by a staircase and two doors.
Our midcentury modern neighborhood is safe, quiet, has an abundance of mature trees, backs up to a nature conservancy yet is in the heart of the near west side of Madison. We’re a bike ride away from Hildale shopping area which includes the new Whole Foods Market, U.W. Hospital, Picnic Point, and a quick drive to campus and downtown.
Once you arrive at Anchor Inn, you will walk along the LED illuminated grey stone path along the driveway and continue down the flagstone steps into the lush backyard. Your private patio sits just outside your front door and includes the hot tub to relax in with a drink.
Your apartment is 1000 square feet of open concept living. You will love the extra large shower with a rain shower head, king size mattress, a huge living room with a comfy sectional and cozy gas fireplace, 55in smart tv with Sonos surround sound, kitchenette with induction burner, microwave, fridge and freezer large enough for all your needs.
There are around 100 acres of woods to explore behind the house without driving anywhere. Just head out our back gate to explore the trails. Grab your cross country skis if there’s snow or your hiking shoes in the summer. You will often see turkey, deer and may hear coyote and owls calling at night.
Our home is right on the bike route. You can walk to the neighborhood bar, we’re half a mile away from the Saturday Westside Farmers Market, 1 mile to the restaurant and shopping destination of Hildale, Target and Whole Foods, 2.5 miles to UW Hospital and Picnic Point, 2.5 miles to Lake Wingra boathouse, 3.5 miles to Camp Randall and Monroe Street, 4 miles to the Capitol Square and the Memorial Union, 6.5 miles to EPIC, 6.8 miles to The Sylvee, 12 miles to the cute town of Paoli & 25 miles to Devils Lake State Park
We have lived here for over 30 years and are more than happy to offer suggestions of where to eat or to answer any other questions you might have. We maintain an exceptional level of cleanliness in our rental space. We only use eco-conscious cleaning products and scent free detergent. The space isn’t recommended for guests traveling with infants and young children as there are many breakables and is not childproofed. We have two dogs and two cats that are frequently hanging out in the backyard. They love visiting our guests for pets but aren’t allowed in the apartment for cleanliness/allergy reasons.
Things to note:
-Your apartment entrance is down flagstone steps and are uneven surfaces. There is no handrail to steady yourself. Please reference the photos to make sure of accessibility.
-Weddings, including wedding prep, photography, etc is considered an event and requires a booking inquiry and an extra charge before booking.
All are welcome.
