This Hotel is Closed for Business!
Publié le 1 janv. 2019 sur HotelsAny detailed rating is really absurd so "unsatisfactory" is used just because some specific rating are demanded by this program. This hotel has been closed for some three years and has no business being advertised. It is the site of a tea farm. We did eat and sleep there because the on-site caretaker was gracious and there happened to be one bungalow kept for the owner's infrequent guests!

Disappointing and not up to expectations
Publié le 15 janv. 2014 sur Expedia
Pour : The double beds were comfortable
Contre : Cold water only in the bathroom,
Emplacement : One and half hours from Chiang Mai in remote hill country. No tourist attractions within easy distance from hotel
Arrived 9.00 pm. Room windows were open and room very cold and bed sheets and towels VERY damp. There was nowhere to sit in the room as there were no bedside tables/no bedside lamps. Room floors were never cleaned properly and mismatched towels were only changed on request after 4 days The hotel runs on solar energy and apart from the first day when the hotel was not full, no hot water was available in the bathroom during the rest of our stay. Not only that but the bathroom had the top of one wall open to the elements so it was extremely cold. Also bugs got in! There was coffee/tea/sugar in the room but no kettle! The floors were polished cement but there were no carpets/rugs to ease the bareness. In all the room and bathroom was very spartan. There was a TV but it did not appear to be working and there were no instructions for use. The hotel advertises an English breakfast on the website but this is very misleading as apart from eggs, the food was mainly Thai. Apart from two people on reception, grasp of English was poor by the rest of the staff and miscommunication was common. The hotel offered very little in the way of extras. Massages were available but they appeared to be given in open air pavilions and the outside temperature was too cold to be tempted. A car is essential as hotel is way off the beaten track and hotel transport to/from was expensive. Overall, our expectations were not met and the hotel was expensive for what was on offer... we were even charged for a broken glass!! in our opinion, the hotel deserves a 2* rating only, if that.

Remote basic retreat next to a waterfall.

Pour : Great, very helpful staff.
Contre : Fresh organic juices would be nice instead of bottled. More food options at the restaurant would be good, esp for vegetarian. Hammocks/seating needed.
Emplacement : VERY remote, up a mountain next to a waterfall. One and a half hours from Chiang Mai city. Not much to do there, except expensive tours or massages.
We went to Chiang Mai for our honeymoon and enjoyed being out in the rural landscape and next to the amazing waterfall. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There is only one restaurant there with a limited menu, especially for vegetarians. Fresh juices would've been nice instead of the same bottled ones each day. The showers run on solar panels, so hot water was only available at night not in the morning, this was ok with us but did upset other guests. There is not much to do but relax. Trouble was there's not many areas to just relax except your room or spikey grass, some hammocks or chairs on the grass would be good as not many places to sit and enjoy the view. The tours were good, but a bit expensive for what they were. Also, when we arrived a HUGE lunch was cooked for us which we did not ask for (most of it was meat and I am a vegetarian), we were charged (a fair bit) for this meal, even though we didn't really want it and I couldn't eat most of it! This was a bit rude...
When we went to pay at the end they added on a 10% service fee and 7% tax so it bumped up the price by $200, they should let you know about this prior to requesting it as it was a bit of a shock.
I guess it depends what your after, if you don't mind being very remote and spending a fair bit of cash then it may be perfect for you.
Staff are great, but a few improvements need to be made to make it more relaxing/enjoyable and less pricey.

Hotel for getting away from the world

Pour : - Going to bed with the sound of waterfall in the background is AMAZING - Lots of green around - Local Thai food provided
Contre : The hot water system in the room didn't work so hard for long stay in winter The tour guide we had was not very knowledgable (more like a driver)
Emplacement : REALLY far from Chiang Mai city & airport, so don't stay there if your purpose is to see the city. However, u can visit hill tribes and temples nearby
