Open and Spacious with a Great View

The property has a nice scenic overview of the trees, which I can only imagine to be very breathtaking during the winter. Because our trip was in the summer, the property was definitely on the hot and stuffy side. There are fans throughout the property. However, we brought our own as well, and they were definitely needed to cool down the property during the summer. The check-in and check-out process were easy breezy. However, I do want to note that getting in and out of the front door was difficult at times because of the way the locks worked in relation to the condition of the door. At one point, I had to call property management because unlocking the door as instructed was not working. Besides that snafu, we would definitely book this property again.

We are so sorry you were inconvenienced during your stay! We always strive to make every guest stay as perfect as possible, inspecting every property twice between every departure/arrival. Our staff are human of course, and so even if we hit 95%, that still leaves some issues from time to time for guests to contend with. We manage about 65 properties and not one of them has central air conditioning (absolutely none are advertised as having A/C). Mammoth Lakes is a mountain town at 9000 above sea level. Our hottest days in the summer are in the 80's. It is very breezy here year round. I am unaware of any property other than commercial spaces that are air conditioned in Mammoth. Like a beach town, you just need to open a couple windows. In the event of unseasonably hot weather, we do stock several portable air conditioning units and they can be rented for a delay fee (includes the electricity costs) with about 24 hours notice. Please call in advance to inquire/schedule a rental if you think you will need an A/C unit. Thank you so much for the feedback about the front door. We are aware of the situation and are working on it. Mammoth is a very small town, population 7000, in a remote, 9000 mountain locale; approximately 150 miles from the nearest city. When we have to contract repair work out to local vendors, the delays in their schedule or in receiving parts can be quite lengthy. Thanks so much for staying with Mammoth Five Star Lodging! Nice place for a large group

We enjoyed our stay here. The kitchen is well stocked and clean. Plenty of the kitchen and bathroom supplies were left for our party of nine. The pool was not open due to repairs but I called the management for the unit and they provided a key for a pool in a different complex. Kind of an inconvenience but they handled it well. Nice living area and big table for our family. Nice view too.

We loved the place! Close to the slopes and quiet.

This property is much better in person, the images of the bedrooms don’t do it justice. We were happily surprised of the elbow room space. We will most likely be back!

Great Cabin and Location

We loved staying at this cabin. It was so easy to walk to the mountain, the cabin is right by the pool, and the cabin itself is lovely. It was so nice having vaulted ceilings in the family room with large windows. It made the cabin feel so spacious.

Family Ski Vacation

This is a decent condo close to the Canyon Lodge lifts. We were lucky to get tremendous snow which made the trek to the lifts slightly more difficult due to the excessive snow, but under normal circumstances, this is an easy access unit. The living room accommodated our group of 10 comfortably. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking every night. The beds were comfortable. We enjoyed the hot tub which was adjacent to the unit. Just a few suggestions: Please consider replacing the front door lock. It sticks, making it difficult for access. Multiple attempts were required to get the door to properly unlock. Consider humidifiers-I feel this is a necessity in a mountain home at this altitude. Consider allowing guest to leave unopened kitchen items. We had some items that the next guests likely would have appreciated (beer/coffee and similar) but the management sheet states multiple times the fines we would get for leaving anything behind. We came by plane, so we couldn't take it home easily. We ended up giving it away to neighboring condos. Lastly consider locking up the owners closet somewhere other than the primary bedroom. The tiny dresser wasn't sufficient and the available closet space was overrun with extra pillows and blankets which didn't allow many options for our weeks stay of clothes/gear.

As a professional property manager we post clear rules, expectations for departure, and potential fees or fines for ignoring those rules during your stay or after departure. We almost never actually fine anyone, because virtually all guests follow the rules. We donÕt ask for anything too hard: no linen stripping, no cleaning- just a few basics like trash removal, heat settings, run the dish washer, etc.). All guests must sign a contract when booking and these rules and fines must specifically be initialed for approval before completing the booking procedure. These same rules and fines are posted inside the unit to ensure there are no surprises.ÊWe believe posting the rules up front so they are clearly understood to be the best way to meet our dual obligation to our renters, as well as to our homeowners, who expect us to protect their home and investment. Our check out rules have good reasons for them. For example, failure to remove trash after your stay can invite bears to break in, causing thousands of dollars in property damage. Similarly, a vacant unit left unheated can have pipes burst; parking and noise violations can bring police or HOA fines on the property owner, etc. All our rules have similar logic, I don't have enough space here to explain them all, but call if you're concerned. We have 18 full time staff members in our housekeeping, maintenance and guest services departments who we can call upon to resolve problems.
