Great budget option on the edge of Malate
Publié le 30 mai 2017 sur HotelsI went as a solo traveller. I found the place looked a bit rough from outside but there are some good rooms inside. It's certainly worth paying the extra to upgrade. While basic the room had a good air conditioner, a comfortable bed, wifi (not all rooms has wifi and I needed to request one close to the lobby) and a television with a limited choice of international channels. There were some renovations in progress but they were done in a subtle way that didn't disrupt my stay. Once the renovations are complete I'm sure the condition score will go up. The cleanliness needs some work with both renovation (some parts were clean but looked dirty due to age and decoration) and bug infestation - the staff made it clear that long term steps were being taken but that wouldn't spray/gel the bathroom after I complained about a large cockroach.
Overall I'd recommend this place for budget travellers and backpackers. It has a very homely feel and is good value for the money. It's in a good location near Robinsons Place and the LGBT venues. It's ok for families as well, unlike many of the other budget places in the area, and isn't one of the places full of hourly customers.

Hotel that is not acceptable with Western standard
Publié le 11 avr. 2014 sur Hotelsthe location is ok, a bit North on the outskirts of the Ermita/Malate area, further out, beyond the busy high train, thoroughfare artery. The exterior is sort of ok, but inside, they have crammed three floors into two somehow! I am 6'4, and I could not fully stretch out inside the room, the ceiling is so low. I had to walk around bent over all the time. Room tiny, but ok, the shared bathroom on the verge of being acceptable. The owner gentleman /he is one!/ is a very gentle, gregarious person, helpful in every way, but the rest of the staff was rather non-committal. The last day I was offered a free upgrade to a ensuite room with bathroom, a bit better affair, still sort of low end Asia standards, although with good TV and decent bed. Breakfast is plentiful and rich, wifi is slow and unreliable. OK for very budget conscious back packers for a one night of last resort overstay, but avoid if planning for longer.
