You are correct that the painting project has been planned for a while. 8 months ago they notified us that our floor would be closed for two weeks in July for repainting and they told us the repainting project would begin around late April/early May. However, we did not anticipate and weren't made aware of the noise that the project would entail until 10 days before your stay. We received a notice from the condo association that the sanding process was loud if they were sanding near your units. As soon as we received this notice, which was 10 days before your stay, we contacted you. We were already within the 14 day cancellation window, but we extended that for you to allow you to cancel and find another property. However, you did not want to do this. Out of all of our May & June renters that we notified, everyone was very understanding. We've checked in during and after with other renters staying since this project started and the majority said the noise was no issue at all and that they had a great time. There were 2 renters that said out of their stay they had one day with noise, but they went and did an activity during that time. I know the noise is dependent on where they are working in the building, so I'm not discounting that there was noise during your stay. Fortunately on the weekend there is no work done. One of your concerns was also that the noise was disruptive at the pool, so I offered you a pass to our other property that has an even nicer pool than this property but you did not take me up on the pass - only asked for a discount on your stay which I did accommodate. I'm very sorry for the noise during your stay, and I wish it would have been the peaceful quite trip you were looking forward to. I made you aware of the possible noise as soon as I knew about it and did what I could to give you the opportunity to find another property and to give you an alternative place to go to. We do not have the work mentioned on our listing, because the majority of the affected dates booked 10-12 months ago at which point we weren't aware of the project. The sanding portion will be finished in early June 2024. All of these renters have been notified. Every other affected renter has been very understanding. I wish our property could be quite and peaceful 100% of the time, but like I told you, that is not the reality of a community property (and even hotels and resorts for that matter). All properties need updates and repairs to remain safe and to keep up appearances. This will be a very nice improvement for the property. And as this property is in a condominium complex, we can't control what construction and noise is taking place around us. The best we can do is try to communicate and accommodate you the best we can - which I feel we did.
