Not ok!! We Will not come back, because we do not aprove of the way they keep turtles in a small watertank with nothing else than two concret block in. They also keep a dog in a chain 24/7 The cats seemed fine at least.

Please immediately remove your completely incorrect review. ALL my animals here are rescues - from abused St Bernards, abandoned street dogs, blind cats, breeding Persians and the two turtles who have been rescued from people who had kept them in tanks 20cmx20cm for their lives thus far. The turtles will then be released into larger water bodies once I have clearance for the same. Until then, they're in a 1.5m x 1.5 glass tank, cleaned EVERY single day, fed three times a day and are free to walk around outside of the tank for the required 2 hours a day that they need. We are registered with animal welfare groups across south Goa and you can ask any of them how we look after and treat every single one of my babies. Charlie, who we have to tie up 6 hours a day - had behavioural and anxiety issues and is being treated for the same. We have to tie him up for 6 hours for discipline practice. Once he's trained, he will be as free as the rest of our animals. He's completely free the rest of the time and you were absolutely not in any position to state that you saw him for 24 hours every single day over a 7 day period when you were here for a few hours. Your review is subject to an official complaint and I will take action if you fail to take it down.

Good clean budget hotel in Bogmalo. My room was overlooking the swimming pool. Toilet was also well maintained and clean. Towels, pillow and bed sheets were spotless. The helpful owner who resides at the property stated that hygiene is paramount when preparing food in the restaurant. Breakfast and dinner was excellent, with the kingfish tali really nice. The staff are very attentive and will even do your laundry at short notice. Bogmalo beach is very quiet and 15 minutes walk, which I personally enjoyed. Hotel provide a taxi to airport for 500 rupees but you can also catch the bus from the main road and this takes you there for 30 rupees.

Awful place

The place was filthy blood on sheets and pillow case . Cracked mirror no running water.

I'm aware of the water issue was a matter we had explained to you immediately. The electricity had gone and with our generator, the water pumps don't work. We apologised for that then and I reiterate that apology again. I'm sorry that our back up was not good enough for you. However, to state that the place is filthy, suggesting there's blood on the sheets when in fact this is very much not the case, is unfair and incorrect. Our sheets are brand new - I cannot imagine that any customer in any hotel would sleep in a room where there's blood on the sheets and NOT say anything to raise that immediately with the hotel. The mirrors are also not cracked in any part of the room - all 9 of the mirrors are very much intact. A happy new year to you and yours.

Staff were great & helpful, breakfast was great, charming environment, & particularly loved the dogs & cats, AC worked well. CONS: sheets were unhygeinic with several stains & hair, and drinking water given in the room (they don't offer plastic bottled water so offer reusable water bottles) but this reusable water bottle smelled horrific, clearly not something you'd want to drink. If they would invest in better cleaning, hotel would be nicer.

Thank you for taking the time out to review us. Firstly I'm really sorry about the bottles and sheets - I have asked my housekeeping staff to check before they place things in the rooms. I have ordered in glass bottles - our water is freshly filtered every day and it's the first time anyone has said it smells but I'll look into it as I think it's more the bottle than the water. The water is perfectly drinkable, I can assure you of that!

Staff did not understand English much and there was no bar in service, could not even get a bottle of water, and there was nowhere nearby easily accessible for those who do not know the area

Hi - our description is very clear that we're eco friendly so we don't give bottled water. Instead, we have free, unlimited filtered water. We don't have a licence so we don't have a bar - again very clear in our description and services we offer at the hotel. Our staff were able to communicate with you as best they can. I hope you understand that your English accent is very different to the Indian guests who speak English too - a little patience is all that's required. Also, the area is something you should research yourself and the reception is full of information on Goa as a state, Vasco as a city and Bogmalo as a village. That's displayed on the walls.

Quick stay

The Athi hotel was a quick stopover near the airport for an early morning flight. The owner was incredibly helpful organising an early morning taxi for the airport & arranged for the kitchen to make me a ‘stomach friendly’ evening meal after I arrived feeling a bit ill, they also cooked an amazing Biryani for my husband. The lovely beach is a 15 min downhill walk from the hotel & a cheap taxi ride back if you don’t fancy the uphill walk. The hotel staff could not do enough for us. Although we booked this as an airport stay, I would consider adding another couple of days considering the value of the stay and the lovely food & surrounding area.

I'm sorry you felt that we deserved a lower rating than the impression you had given when you left here. In our standard rooms, there is simply not enough space to put other furniture in. As you may recall, if we had put a chair in your room, there would not have been room for your luggage. There is plenty of furniture across the whole hotel and right outside your room.
