Thank you for your review. We are glad you enjoyed your time down at Matagorda on such a wonderful beach location! Our approach to ensure that our guests have the best experience possible during their stay, has been to encourage guests to feel free to communicate with us should something not be to their liking. Accordingly, we email all our guests upon arrival and during their stay, directly requesting that they let us know of anything that could be done to make their stay more enjoyable. This of course happened during your stay and to that end you did email us upon arrival that you wanted to have the AC changed from cool to heat as a cool front had passed by recently. The AC was changed to heating accordingly. You made no additional attempts to communicate with us throughout your stay, which we find particularly disappointing, given the number of areas of concern you found. Secondly, we do take our guests' comments very seriously. Indeed, we maintain a holistic approach to quality assurance that builds in any and all guest comments directly to ensure problems, which do happen from time to time, do not reoccur. As a part of this process, we also thoroughly check our properties after our guests have departed. This occurred after your stay and all areas you commented on were reviewed. Upon checking, we did find that the wi-fi had indeed stopped working as you mentioned and that this was due to an area wide fault starting at 10PM Saturday night. We were unable to find any trace of the odors you mentioned, which was particularly curious given that odor and freshness is something that is very regularly checked. Indeed, all bedding is cleaned after every stay, all mattresses are protected and all furniture cleaned. Again, after every stay. Bathrooms and kitchens are always cleaned and sparkling before every stay too. Kitchen appliances like the range and microwave are also tested each time. Both these items were found to be 100% functional. Again, we cannot agree with your comments here. We do take safety seriously and you will note the presence of a fire extinguisher and smoke/carbon monoxide detectors throughout the property. We could not find any exposed wiring or any unsafe electrical areas at all, which we find particularly troublesome, given your extensive comments. Maybe you were referring to the wiring under the house? If so, it is common for beach houses that are on piles to have wiring run underneath. This wiring was also checked and there was nothing unsafe found there either. In summary, we do take our guest comments very seriously, but prefer to deal with them as soon as they happen. Over 90% of issues that are raised during guest stays are dealt with during their stays. We also want our guest experience to be one where they want to come back year after year (which by the way is over 40% of our bookings) and as such we place a high emphasis on quality as mentioned above. This is not only the best way to approach short term rental, it is also the right thing to do. I would encourage anyone reading this response to scan the over 130 fantastic reviews we have of this property (including the 5 star review from the guest who stayed immediately after) and you will find that our approach does indeed work very well, our guests do have great experiences and that this particular review is very much an outlier.
