The red Shed

Excellent place to stay

Wide Open Spaces
Posted Apr. 7, 2024 on HomeAwayThis is essentially a pole barn, and I assume it was once used as one, as indicated by the slight farm smell inside. The fact it's wide open is NOT a negative it's nice having room to move around, and the sleeping arrangements just work. Nobody (5) of us bothered the other while sleeping or staying up later than the rest. It worked out great. The kids played a game of pool, and we all fed the alpacas out back with nuts provided by the host.
The host showed up shortly after our arrival to welcome us and was very interested in sharing information about the area, asking what our plans were, and providing ideas and suggestions for things to do and see. Note there is a neat "downtown" area we wished we would have made it to town sooner to check it out.
We visited both the north and south islands, and my kids, both 17-year-old boys, liked this area of New Zealand the best; the rest of us mostly agree, but it's hard to compete with the south island if you're into hiking and nature.

Glad you and your family enjoyed the stay, the Alpacas and Sheep certainly liked the children feeding them. Just to clarify that The Red Shed has never been a "pole barn" which has a definition as a very basic structure with wood poles dug into the ground. It has concrete foundations, full wool insulation, braceline noise inhibiting gib walls and ceiling, an Italian micro kitchen, so built to the same high spec as a well built house, and was a dwelling on the property before being completely refurbished and converted into short stay accommodation.

We had a wonderful time at the ‘Red Shed’ amazing hosts that went above and beyond to ensure the experience for our family was a memorable one. The pool table was a hit with our two teen boys also. Thanks again!

Lovely little spot
