Rescheduled Getaway
Publié le 14 nov. 2024 sur HomeAwayOur family planned this getaway in October, but Hurricane Helene caused us to reschedule. The host were so kind and gracious. Always available for questions and very accomodating. Cozy home. Great for multi-generational trips.

Beautiful place to stay
Publié le 17 oct. 2024 sur HomeAwayThis trip was absolutely amazing. Not only was the house so inviting but so was the owners. They were so helpful with any questions that you may have. The house was great with tons of space and a great location. We were not far from town and from the creeper trail. The house is surrounded by many farms which having children was a great highlight. I would recommend anyone who would love to get away for beautiful scenery and a wonderful house to stay

Our guests were great. Before they checked out, they put the trash in the trash can plus washed all the dishes in the dishwasher. They took wonderful care of the house and we would welcome them to come back to spend time at our vacation rental any time in the future. Thank yoy all and have a Wonderful Summer.

The only thing I would suggest would be to provide a few more basics for the future stays.
When we got there there was only one roll of toilet paper for two bathrooms.. there was only a quarter roll of paper towels in the kitchen and provided minimal basics for the kitchen. (I would suggest more pots and pans - some type of filtered water system- and also unexpired products in the kitchen)
Also there is one room that does not get heat so the room with the two twin beds was absolutely freezing!
Other than that we really enjoyed our stay!!

We cannot understand this review and have never received a review that was one minute praising us for being good hosts and then telling all the things that she did not have for the visit. We sent her our telephone number and explained to her that we lived only 5 minutes from the rental house and would be there to help them any time---day or night. VRBO has a record of this conversation.
We have someone who does the cleaning and another person who fixes anything that might be torn up. After she left this review, we called our repair person. Fred went with him to the house and there was nothing wrong with the heating. We suggested to her that if she had not liked the water, she could have bought what she liked to drink in town. Fred is a retired Enviromental Engineer and has been retired for over 20 years. His job for this area was to make sure that the water supply was safe for consumption along with many other areas in Virginia. Our neighbor now has this job and we are sure that he is doing a good job.
We have sufficient cooking equipment in the kitchen to cook anything you would like to cook. If you will look back over some of our reviews, you will see that we had guests who cooked most all of their meals at our rental house with no problems. Also, we do not have twin beds in the one room but 2 double beds.

Farmland friendly
Publié le 24 oct. 2023 sur HomeAwayLoved the area for hiking and biking - good restaurants in Abington (and at least 1 in Damascus). We were at the house for breakfast and a couple of dinners - the house is not updated but in good shape for its age. What we needed for the meals we prepared were supplied - the kitchen is small but has lots of cabinet space and reasonable counter space. One of 2 full baths was really small and the other one had plenty of room (it doubled as a laundry room). Both baths are side by side and right by 2 bedrooms on that side of the house. Bathroom access from other 2 bedrooms required passing thru the dining room and kitchen. If you like watching TV the smart TV is really good! We tried out the fire pit one night and it was great - we took porch chairs and set them on a grassed, lightly sloped area around the fire pit. A neighbor evidently has firewood to sell but, being more spur of the moment planners, there had been some recent tree work done so there was a good bit of wood close by to gather. I would suggest arranging to have some firewood. If you visit in cold weather the 2 bedrooms near the bathroom get a good bit colder than the rest of the house but there are plenty of covers to stay warm. All in all a nice stay for 4.

Thank you for your review. I do not understand why you rated me with 4 stars with you saying in your review all the nice things about the house. The house reflects the time that we lived in the house plus you were able to see all the pictures of the bedrooms, dinning area, living room, and den. We raised our 2 children in this house and we had plenty of room for them. After my mother moved into our house because of having Alheizmer's, we moved her into the bedroom with 2 beds because she needed to be next to our bedroom. My office was located in that bedroom before my mother moved to our house. I designed this kitchen to have everything at my finger tips because I was a career person and did not have a lot of time to prepare meals, so every minuted counted in my day. Also, you had FREE Fire Wood, which most vacation rentals do not furnish, plus coffee, sugar, creamer, and several other items in the cabinet. For the price we charge, I do not know how much better we could have made this house. Hope you had a nice trip back home.

Great stay with kind hosts
