Amazing Host & Accommodations

Publié le 3 août 2024 sur Hotels
We had an absolutely fantastic stay at the Sassafras Inn! Darren, the owner was super-welcoming and offered so much more than we ever expected. He was a wonderful wealth of information about restaurants and things to see and do in the area. His wife made wonderful blueberry streusal muffins that our entire family loved. The rooms were very comfy as well. We will definitely be coming back one day!

Bill,Thanks so much for the awesome review. I enjoyed meeting your wife - Shelly and your beautiful daughters Heather and Olivia. It’s refreshing to see such well behaved children with manners. I loved the message in our guest book and especially the beautiful poem. We try to go above and beyond for all of our guest and make their stay an experience and love sharing the history of our Sassafras Inn built inn 1900. We do call it our hidden gem in the foothills of the beautiful Ouachita mountains. Our furniture dates back between approximately 1825 - 1900. We also have a Magnolia tree out front and pine trees on the side of our property that’s 126 years old. But our namesake Sassafras tree located off the beautiful Veranda is the second largest in Arkansas and is between 150 - 200 years old. Thanks for stepping back in time with us and enjoying the Inn. My award winning blue ribbon Organic Blueberry Streusel muffins are made fresh daily for our guest. My wife is the gingered baker on Facebook and she has been baking for over 25 years and I’ve been in the food business for over 30 years. We ship baked goods all over the United States. Pre-ordered and we save about 70% on our shipping cost. Thanks again for staying with us and we look forward to seeing you all again in the near future. The owner is exceedingly knowledgeable of the restaurants, history and connections of the area. He and his wife clearly love what they do and Darren is an excellent blueberry muffin maker.

Great Inn

Publié le 24 mai 2024 sur Hotels
Darren, the homeowner and innkeeper, met us at the door to this lovely home/inn. He welcomed us with a smile and conversation about the history behind Sassafras Inn and Mena, We sat and visited for about an hour. Our suite was extremely large, (2 rooms), complete with coffee and refrigerator. He then provided us with his homemade, organic blueberry muffins that were to die for. Very cozy atmosphere and a soft bed was just the remedy for a long day in the road. Highly recommend this wonderful place. Will stay again!!
