Fantastic stay
Publié le 8 mai 2019 sur HomeAwayWe had an absolutely wonderful, peaceful stay at Casa Karina. It was the perfect size for me, my partner and our two young adult/teen sons. We loved hanging out on the patio, taking turns in the hammock and watching the ocean and pelicans flying overhead. Going to sleep in comfortable beds while listening to the waves. Kitchen supplies were ample. The property manager, Jenny, was very responsive to all of our concerns and communications. Aticama is a charming village with many great restaurants and great beaches close by. We would love to return and stay much longer than a week next time!

Great view, comfy master bed, you can live on the veranda
Publié le 22 janv. 2019 sur HomeAwayComfortable for two adults. Panoramic view of ocean and constant lull of waves, very relaxing. Aside from Aticama’s notorious bugs (still better than San Blas) (bring spray) the oceanside porch was our location for everything but sleeping. Interesting crafts collection. House charming but needs some work. Water pressure almost inadequate especially in kitchen. New shower head would be nice. First step from driveway particularly hazardous. Yard could use some attention. Jenny was very available and helpful even though she was away and massages by Liz were quite good and professional- a highlight. Aticama friendly and ‘real’ Mexico and location is good for daytrips. We went to San Blas, Mexcaltitán de Uribe, the Matachen beaches and Tepic twice. You can also just walk through the cemetery for quick access to the malecon leading to Aticama’s popular (drive-on) beach. Great people watching and walking as well as ocean access. Yaka or mango or coco paletas from the cart vendors not to be missed. How do they keep them so cold???

Wonderful
Publié le 28 mars 2018 sur HomeAwayThank you so much for letting us stay in your casa for the past 2 months
Casa Karina is private with an amazing westerly view across, the Pacific Ocean
We ate all our meals out on the spacious verandah, and were lulled to sleep every night by the sound of the waves breaking on the beach below us
We had some minor problems - this is rural Mexico after all - but they were quickly and efficiently dealt with by the charming Jenny. Thank you Jenny. You were terrific
The casa is cosy and well equipped with cooking utensils, and bed linens. Gloria the house cleaner did great work, and the friendly gardener was always a pleasure to meet. The king bed rivalled ours ar home for comfort. There is no wifi, and the telephone reception. Is unreliable. The library in town has good wifi, and was a great way to stay connected with family and world affairs.
This was our second long stay in Aticama. We loved revisiting friends we met last year, margaritas and dinners at Casa Mañana, the best coconut shrimps ever at Restaurant Islitas on Playa Las Islitas (possibly the best beach we've ever visited
Long walks with our dog along Matanchen Bay, beautiful sunsets - what more could we wish for?
The malecon runs beneath the cliff that leads from the back garden. There is substantial work being done on it. They hope to complete it by May and will link the town of Aticama and Matcanchen Bay - a worker says it will accommodate two lanes of traffic, a walking and a cycling path. Hopefully is won't affect the tranquility that is the charm of,this property.
We hope to return to this relaxing and welcoming community one day soon

San Blas Un Encanto
Publié le 28 juin 2017 sur HomeAwayI could not ask for more. I wanted to relax and I did. Sitting outside on the "tapete" watching the moon go by, and listening to the ocean, is something unforgetable. Eating out was a delicacy, fresh seafood everyday a few meters down the street. The mango and plum plants in front of the house had tons of ripe fruit, the floor was covered of it and we had to do something about it. We visited "El Tovara," a paseo into the jungle that gave as a chance to see birds and crocodiles. The house being at the end of the street had no neighbors, and being on a hill gave us the spectacular view of the ocean. Going to the beach by a shortcut adventure into the cemetery did not bother us, just had to be quiet not to disturb the absolute peace in that place. Thanks for that house, it was a pleasure living in it for a week.

Relaxing in isolation
Publié le 8 mars 2017 sur HomeAwayThe month in Aticama was very enjoyable and relaxing. The casa is at the end of a cobblestone road, so there is zero traffic. The house is in a gated fenced enclosure, so it is completely secure, including the car. The view from the front of the house is extraordinary, facing west across the entire Bay of Matanchen. The casita is about two hundred feet above the beach road, perched on a cliff. Probably not the place for kids. You must drive or a long walk to reach beaches.
The town of Aticama is a fishing village, with a lot to see as they fish and dive for oysters in front of the house. Fresh seafood is abundant. Other restaurants in San Blas and along the beach offer other diverse fare. Shopping is ok in Aticama for most things, San Blas is good for more extensive tastes.
The kitchen is tight but certainly adequate, with pots and pans in various life stages.
Bring your own charcoal grill or you can buy grilled chickens several places and many restaurants have grilled seafood.
The bedrooms are large and the beds comfortable. The chairs are not comfortable to the America custom, bring folding chairs if you can.
There is no communication at the house; nearest wi-fi is three blocks away, at the local library. If isolation and quiet is your goal, this is the place for you. You will also need some Spanish to enjoy the community, English is scarce and a luxury. A car is also needed to fully enjoy the area and see some of the sights by Tepic or Puerto Vallarta.
A very relaxed vacation for people with a little Spanish, a car and no need for TV, telephone or internet service. There is no A/C and the electric service is marginal. That was ok in January, might be a problem in the summer.
