A mixed bag

100% honest review here. Office as you walked in, wreaked of marijuana. The young gentlemen appeared to be high. The room at the motel however surprised us, it had knotty pine wood all over and it was extremely clean. It honestly belies the appearance of the outside of the motel. When I drove up, I thought oh, oh, and was a bit worried about the room but it turned out ok. The garbage cans at each end however were filled with trash, couldn't even fit ours in so we left it on top of the garbage cans and this was on Monday morning. So the rooms were nice, but the rest didn't do much for them. A little care to the outside, including lawn cutting would do them wonders.

I am sorry we did not meet your expectations. Marijuana is legal in the state of Michigan. I have asked the young man not to use weed during check in hours and as he lives there, to step outside to smoke but he will not do that. Unfortunately, his manager contract is good until we close for the season. Lexxy our housekeeper will be very pleased when she sees that you commented how clean her rooms were. We are in the process of painting the outside a nautical blue, as well as cosmetic improvements too.

This property is conveniently located. The check in process was nice and it was a quiet place to settle. The outside area had a nice ambiance with a fire pit, docks, kayaks to use and a place to sit near the water. The beds were comfortable and the room was cozy. There was a mildew/mold smell in the room that was helped by turning the air conditioner on.

Thank you for staying with us, I am happy you were able to use our outdoor recreational activities. Sometimes when it gets so hot and humid outside, we get that closed up smell from being right on the lake that is alleviated by keeping the air conditioning on, which we educated our housekeeper on the science of humidity and she will leave them on. We hope you will book with us again when you return to the Upper Peninsula.

Even though it was the hottest day of the year- I had 97.5 degrees on my porch thermometer- I am please you and your guests got to enjoy our activities. It always seems cooler in a kayak, even on a really warm day. We hope you will book with us again when you return to our area!Thank you for booking with us!

I believe they are trying to make it nice. There are yard games available, a rowboat, and chairs by the water. At first glance the room looked Ok. But the bed did not have a top sheet, there was a missing light bulb, the power did not work in the outlet we wanted for charging our devices, and the password for the internet did not work. All easy to correct.

Thank you for appreciating my efforts to make our motel nice and an enjoyable place to stay. For an older mom and pop roadside motel. our rooms are really nice and quaint, but we cannot compare to the new big-box hotels they build today. I contacted our internet provider, who is the local university, and my husband will look into it. We are in a remote location in the Upper Peninsula, and do not have access to the services that urban areas have. However, we are paying a high rate for the WIFI they are supposed to provide for us and it does not sound like we are getting our moneys worth out of their service. The housekeeper said she knew she did not put a top sheet on and we reviewed with her again what our expectations were as to her housecleaning. In our remote area, with mainly senior citizens and summer tourists as neighbors, it is difficult to find employees. We are looking into charging bars to install but cannot find one that has all the outlets and capabilities for all the devices people use, and we certainly do not want to have electrical safety issues with our wiring. Thank you again for telling me your concerns, and I will continue to improve our motel amenities.

Wow Bear Paw inn

I generally never complain, i have to say there was confusion from the start... disconnected phone number, sounded like my room was in the town of Baraga and not Michigamme, all i wanted was to sleep and shower no more no less. I slept for 5 solid hours and awoke to the owner outside our door tslking about us. Decided i wanted to go to the bathroom and the seat was so loose it was almost a rodeo . Opted for a shower and ran the rotten egg smelling water for ten minutes and it never got warm and ran faucet at same time and no hot water hmmmmm. Thanks so much and who is the red hot chili pepper looking people riplin around in the gravel ??? Thanks for the experience.

Thank you for bringing your problems to my attention. We do have different properties, one in Three Lakes/Michigamme and one in Baraga, which are 35 miles apart. Your on line reservation should tell you the name of the property you booked, but we are versatile and if a guest stops at one and wants to stay there and not travel further, that is OK with us as rates are the same and we want to accommodate the guests the best we can. I will have the handyman fix the toilet seat. He will also look into the hot water and odor problem you had. Not sure what you are talking about "who the red hot chili pepper looking people riplin around in the gravel???" The only chili peppers we have are the ones I use when we make chili sauce for our foot long chili cheese dogs we serve at our bar and grill across the street. We are in a remote area out of town and as there were only 5 phone landlines around the three lakes surrounding us, so the phone company discontinued all our phones and we rely on our mobile phones, which numbers should be clearly posted in your room and on the office door.

Only stay at this dump as a last resort

Room was not clean. Neither the WiFi nor TV worked. There was mold in the coffee pot. The room was moldy smelling. Rust in the bathroom which had a single pull chain light.

I am sorry we did not meet your expectations of a very clean room. I am not sure what happened with WIFI as we have the network and password posted in each room. It comes from Northern Michigan University and is rarely nonfunctioning. At times if the weather is bad and there is alot of cloud and moisture interference in the sky, the WIFI will go out for a few minutes but we have not had problems from other guests. The Direct Satellite TV instructions how to work the remote are clearly posted in each room. I am wondering if you contacted the onsite manager to help you? There is no excuse for mold in the glass coffee pot and I have already reprimanded the housekeeper for that and a dirty room. We do have a new housekeeper and will give her mor supervision. If I knew what room you were in, I could check the bathroom light, as there should be a wall switch to turn on the ceiling light like you and I have at home.
