This is motel is a low-cost option in a pricey area. It was clean and quiet, the room and bathroom were nice, and the bed was comfortable. The rooms were small, as was made clear from the hotel description, the shower was very small, there were no staff on the premises during our stay (also as advertised), but our check-in and check-out went smoothly using their remote procedures. The in-room coffee was awful but I have rarely found any hotel, including $350 plus per night ones, to have even decent coffee, so no big deal. We were very satisfied by our stay here.

Thank you for the good review! We are glad you enjoyed your stay! I will definately take your feedback on the coffee into consideration. We are here 7 days a week 8am - 5/6pm because the owners quarters is a candy shop now so we don't live on the premises. But we do not live far from the motel. We are available 24/7 by phone. We do miss meeting some of our guests which is a bummer, because we have a lot of great people stay here and I wish I could personally meet you all!

We arranged for a later check-in. When we arrived at 9:45pm… the motel was dark and no cars in parking area except for one. In the dark, the person in the only car was sitting and smoking. I didn’t know if he was staying at motel or monitoring the motel or trespassing. I tried to call the manager’s number and received no answer. There was no response to my text either. So we did not stay. And unfortunately, I have yet to receive a return email or phone call to my efforts the following day. Disappointed in the customer service.

I've tried reaching out to this guest recently, but have not heard back. I was out of town when this happened. I never received her call that night (I get calls after hours to my cell phone) but did verify that she placed 2 calls back to back within seconds of each other. She also texted my employee who provided her the check in information but she was a sleep. I'm not sure why the phone calls never came though on my cell phone. My employee did talk to this guest the next day and explained the smoker in the truck was in fact a guest. She did tell this guest I was out of town and she would have me call her when I got back. I honestly forgot as I was quite busy after returning and being out of town for 2 weeks. That is on me. But in either case the motel was dark as it was 9:45pm at night but our sidewalk and driveway are lit up at night. We had very little cars in the parking lot because 3 rooms had workers in them that were from out of town and were getting picked up by a local worker to go back and forth to their job site. Plus, we only have 9 rooms, it's not unusual for the parking lot not to be full. There was a guest smoking in her truck because there is no smoking allowed in the room and she probably didn't want to stand outside and smoke and chose to smoke in her car. We are a small town, not a big city. So it's not as busy. We also are a small motel. Honestly, I do feel more effort could have been made in contacting me before she made the decision to leave. She called the next morning wanting a refund. If I was in this situation I would have at least tried the phone numbers provided after waiting a few minutes to make another attempt to reach someone. Especially if I was wanted to leave and would be asking for a refund. The decision was made by this guest to leave because it was dark, at night, the parking lot was empty and there was one person (female by the way, not male) smoking in her car. I do not feel any of this presents an unsafe situation especially in a small town. This guest chose to leave, even though she stated she thought the rooms were nice. I don't feel we should have to refund her for only making a brief attempt to contact us and her making the choice to leave. I know if I did that when I stayed somewhere and they didn't give me a refund, I would understand as it was my decision to leave and I didn't make more effort in trying to get a hold of someone. We have never had anyone leave because they felt unsafe here. I am sorry the guest felt this way and felt the need to leave. We certainly do not want anyone feeling unsafe. My only suggestion is to perhaps stay at larger facilities in the future where access to all rooms are inside rather than outside. We make it quite clear we do not live on the premises. But, facilities that do have 24 hour staff on the premises may also be better for you in the future as well. I wish you the best with your future travel plans.
