Heron Pond Hideaway is a stunning and spacious, newly decorated, beautiful home on 5 wooded acres in the Adirondacks, perfect for family reunions or getaways with friends and business associates!
Reminiscent of the Great Camp style of the Adirondacks, this beautiful lodge features stained-glass windows, gorgeous wood coffered ceilings, cherry wood trim and built-in custom cabinetry. A soaring stone fireplace graces the cathedral ceiling of the Great Room, and each of the six comfortable private bedrooms is creatively themed.
The large, fully-equipped “chef’s” kitchen is an entertainer’s dream with plenty of counter space, 2 sinks, Wolf gas stove with 4 burners and a center griddle for Saturday morning pancakes, and large refrigerator with wine drawer. The breakfast nook and bar will seat 10-12. And off the kitchen, the lovely formal dining room can seat another 10 (with additional folding table and chairs provided). Our separate family room with kids area includes 65" flat screen tv, Roku, wifi, foosball table, and plenty of games and books, with an additional Game Room for playing pool and mixing cocktails at the bar--everything you could want in a mountain get-away!
Six bedrooms (2-Kings, 1- Queen, 1- Queen and Twin, 1- Full and attached room with 1- Full and 3-Twins) provide plenty of privacy and solitude for a large group. An additional daybed is available on 2nd floor balcony. We think good sleep is key on a vacation so all of our King/Queen beds are memory foam with a soft and firm pillow for each guest to choose from. (Full and twin beds have one pillow per guest). The bed linens are high quality, high thread count, 100% breathable cotton and every bedroom has room darkening blinds and/or curtains for sleeping in. For better quality sleep, we keep the bedrooms cooler, but for those who need it, we provide thick wool or fleece blankets for snuggling up so everyone is at a happy temperature.
In summer, take a cooling dip in the spring-fed swimming pond or let the kids spend hours exploring our 5 acres of woods or playing in the huge, screened treehouse. Everyone can enjoy the hiking and jogging trails (Moxham Trailhead is less than a mile from the house) or the propane grill, picnic table, basketball court with adjustable hoop height, soccer/volleyball field and campfire area.
Centrally located in the Adirondacks, you’ll find you are a short drive from almost anything your nature-loving heart desires. Beautiful Minerva Beach is just minutes away (1.5 miles from the house) with lifeguard on duty and offers kayak, canoe and paddle board rentals, food stand, tennis & basketball courts. Nearby activities include white water rafting, mountain biking, trout fishing, glass blowing classes, cave exploring, garnet mining, water tubing, the Rev Rail Co and more! As a landing base for day trips, Lake George is 36 minutes away and Lake Placid is 80 min.
In the winter, ski at Gore Mountain just 15 minutes away. Or try the full-service Nordic Center at Garnet Hill for cross country skiing and ice-skating. Snowshoe right out the door of Heron Pond Hideaway! There's also snow tubing, snowmobiling, ice castles, hunting, ice fishing, hok skiing and kick sledding! And after a long day, you’ll relax in our hot tub under a romantic sky full of stars (hot tub not available May 1- Labor Day).
Additionally, we have a wonderful caretaker who lives above the Carriage House on the property and is available for emergencies or other urgent maintenance needs. He plows and sands the driveway through the winter months so you can always be first to the lifts!
The beauty of our cabin is that it is quiet and private, located off a main road and down a gravel road. And as you have no doubt noticed, the weather is very unpredictable these days. Snowy one day and sun shining the next. While the town and our caretaker do an excellent job, the quick change in weather can cause the short non-paved road to our cabin and our steep driveway to become icy or muddy. This most frequently can happen during the late Winter/early Spring. We recommend AWD and driving with caution during these times of the year.
