I just want to be clear that the septic did not back up into the house. They said it worked fine for the first few days of their stay and then suddenly didn’t drain correctly. The neighbors did tell us after they left that a vehicle was backed all the way up to the side door which happens to be where a septic pipe is. It was an easy fix but we do advise our guests prior to check in to park in front of our garage. There is also overflow parking just down the way in a grass field. There were many visitors so perhaps they were not aware.
It definitely is one of the most peaceful spots on the lake and I’m glad they enjoyed themselves despite the inconvenience.

Great little cottage!
Publié le 27 juill. 2024 sur HomeAwayWe really enjoyed our trip, the little ones loved the beach and throwing stones in and swimming. The adults enjoyed the opportunity to unwind in this slice of heaven. We had an initial "issue" with one of the neighbors allowing their dog to roam free when we had a dog also with us but Christine took care of it promptly and for the most part the neighbor complied. We only had one situation where the dog came over but we were able to get it off the property without incident. Christine thank you for sharing your home with us, my 3 year old grandson loved the lake!

Over priced for what you get.
Publié le 22 juill. 2024 sur HomeAwayHad to drive through a huge impression and deep water in the road to get to the cottage. Inside in dire need of a paint job. Walls and wood were full of dirt, chips, and gouges. Furniture was dirty and had soiled spots. One pillow had blood on it. Towels provided were old and well worn. Windows were full of bugs and FILTHY. One bedroom had curtains that did not fit the windows providing NO PRIVACY from the very close neighbor next door. Some of the shades were broken as well. THEN...in her instructions for your stay, you are required to wash the bedding and towels, clean the grill and take out the garbage. I don't go on vacation to pay 500.00 a night to do YOUR job after your renter leaves. Pictures didn't match what you find when you get there.

We are always happy to get feedback like this so we can continuously improve. We ordered new bedroom curtains, and looked at blinds. The twisty thing is broken on one. We are going to replace them anyway with just curtains. The towels seem to be fine except maybe one which was thrown out. The furniture has slipcovers so that we can wash them considering it is a dog friendly home. The cleaning lady does try to wash them every time but as you can imagine between groups sometimes there isn’t enough time with all the other laundry so she vacuums them. We do not require renters to wash the towels and sheets. We ask to throw a load or two in to get it going if possible before vacating and also to leave the grill clean for the next people. Our cleaning lady focuses mainly on the inside in the 4 hours she has between groups. The garbage truck comes once per week so if someone is there on a Monday we ask to roll the two small garbage cans out from the garage about 25 feet where the door is.
I’ve forwarded this on to my cleaner so we will address the other issues mentioned here.

Epic Lake Swimming
Publié le 20 juill. 2024 sur HomeAwayThis small cottage was everything we needed. Great swimming for our kids and golden retriever. Caught smallmouth bass from the dock. Owner is very responsive. Also recommend Filmore Glen SP, Tom Thumb, and Lake Owasco Brewing.

Chilling on the Lake
Publié le 6 juin 2024 sur HomeAwayWe attended a May wedding nearby so decided to rent via VRBO rather than the expensive hotel rates around college graduation time. Very pleasant stay in spite of being off season. Our dog played on the beach and in the water with the neighbors friendly young dog. Located alongside a brook which was peaceful as you can hear the water coming down to the bottom of the hill and into the lake. Enjoyed nearby Filmore Glenn for hiking and seeing the beautiful water falls. Plenty of nearby wineries plus a brewery less than a mile away. Christine our sponsor was very responsive to any of our needs, including quickly remedying an unforeseen septic issue. We were so impressed we booked another camp through her in a few months.
