The house is a bit off the beaten path, but it affords privacy and security. It's basically a really nice detached garage with a FROG.
The main beds (two fulls) are in a shared room with no divider from main living space. The couch/tv are nice, but expect to be using DVDs/Bluerays (only OTA and it's not reliable).
The remaining twin beds are snuggly tucked into dormers off the main room. There's no privacy except in the bathrooms in this unit, but it is a warm comfortable feel.
The downstairs is the garage/kitchen space with nice appliances, most kitchenware needed (though no dishwasher, not a big deal), and some workspace. The kitchen is open air to vehicles (no wall splitting the kitchen area from garage space).
This area is very humid, so bugs (both indoor pests and outdoor biting types) abound, but the indoors didn't have any apparent infestation issues. Very clean and tidy, but to be safe any opened food or snacks were kept in the large modern fridge.
The unit is cooled with window unit A/C (two upstairs, and two downstairs). They struggled a bit to pull down the temp if you're hot natured like we are, so I'd recommend getting them on asap and not turning them off (just setting them at warmer temps if you get cool).
The grounds are well kept and manicured, and though the chicken coop is now defunct, it has many producing fruit trees and lush green lawns.
Cedar Island is a sportsman and nature lovers area. Ample boating, included open and protected water boat ramps all around the location. There isn't much beyond a restaurant or two and a community store, but the community has a quaint feel and everyone knew our host.
Roman is a lovely man. Very communicative and easy to get along with. He placed no demands on us and did everything he could to make our stay pleasant (even offering advice on the water in the area, since I brought a skiff and was unfamiliar with the water at Cedar Island). He also offers very reasonably priced charters, so inquire about that if you want a great fishing experiencing from a local expert that I believe also fishes commercially (noone knows how to find fish better than a local commercial fisherman).
I look forward to return visits to enjoy the accomodations, the host, and the bounty of fish filled waters and natural spectacles with flights of pelicans, huge red drum swimming under the boat in shallow water, free ranging horses, and amazing sunrise/sunsets on the water. Go for it!
