This hotel is very centrally located. This is it's good feature. Rooms are very old, I estimate at least 65 years oldand have not been very well maintained. All doors, windows, floors, bathroom fixtures were defective or on the verge of breaking. This includes all locks, latches and hinges. None of the windows or doors were weatherproof or soundproof, which made for particularly cold, humid and noisy rooms.
The hotel advertises as pet-friendly. However, pet rooms are not designated so you may end up with a room which has a definite pet smell. Windows have no blinds, so lights from corridors cannot be blocked.
Standard hotel amenities are not present. Such as air conditioning or heating in the rooms, so no way to clean the atmosphere or dry the air in the room. There is no parking at this hotel, although you may park at the very narrow, sloped street at your own risk. There is paid parking nearby, but with very limited capacity. The hotel advertises free WiFi, but the existing one has extremely poor quality of service. I was unable to connect throughout my entire stay. There is not staffed reception or regular service. You may have to wait for someone to appear at the reception desk and no chance of asking for extra linens afterhours, for example.
Showers are extremely loud. You cannot hold a conversation in our room if the neighboring room's shower is being used. Linens, pillows and towels have a moldy smell. There are many other better places to stay in Patzcuaro.
