We were planning to arrive on 8/8/2024, but that morning we were hit with unexpected crazy amounts of rain and high winds. Despite that we decided to take the 3 hour trip because my fiancé is a truck driver so he’s very experienced with such conditions, and because it was our son’s 7th birthday and had plans to celebrate. About 90 minutes in we were rear ended by a driver going very fast and ended up sliding into another car in the rain. Our car was totaled but luckily everyone came out alive with minor injuries. After going to the hospital and making sure everyone was alright we contacted the property. We spoke with a woman who claimed to be the manager, I do not remember her name but it was the morning of 8/8/24. We explained the wild and unfortunate situation and that we had plans to celebrate my son’s birthday. She seemed very understanding and sympathetic, after checking our reservation information she explained that since we booked through Expedia we had to go through them to process the refund and that they would absolutely approve it on their end. She assured us that when Expedia reached out to them the refund would be approved. We thanked her and expeditiously contacted Expedia to start the process and even explained the situation to them& that we spoke to a manager& she assured us that the refund would be approved. Expedia thencontacts them& comes back to us and says that after multiple tried they were unable to get approval for the refund from the property manager.
