Guests have access to the entire cottage and the surrounding yard. Additionally, a walk up the driveway past the little red house will set you right onto the hillside meadow. This meadow, with the old oak trees, pond, a fire pit, green grass, and an occasional quail, squirrel, or wild turkey is available to you to enjoy the sun and shade.
The fire pit area is a shared area for the 3 Airbnb’s.
If there is anything you may need, we are available to communicate by phone or come by the house. We are usually about 10-15 minutes away and can help resolve any issues that may arise, such as resetting the WiFi.
I do all the housekeeping and maintenance, so I very much appreciate that guests leave the cottage tidy at checkout.
One mile north of our cottage along the Avenue of the Giants is the town of Miranda, where you will find all you need to stock up for your stay. There are gas pumps at the local market, a post office, the Avenue Cafe (serves lunch & dinner), The Redwood Palace (local oysters, beer and wine), Sips Coffee kiosk, and a Sweets shop.
Humboldt County is a rural, forested area and you might find that you have limited cellular/data services. GPS/Navigation May not be accurate. Please print out and follow my directions on Airbnb.
The cottage is located directly on the historic Avenue of the Giants so there is potential for some motorist noise from other travelers visiting the area.
The best time to enjoy river activity is (approximately) late April until August.
In years of drought, the water level will be very low.
Please note that we have three Airbnb listings on this 5 acre property and if the Hilltop house is booked, you may run into the other guests in the shared meadow.
Please leave the house in the condition you found it in; clean the kitchen, tidy up and do the dishes. We will take care of the laundry. Be respectful of the neighbors; quiet hours begin at 10pm, including the fire pit/picnic area.
Thank you
