Cute historic house walking distance from downtown area
Publié le 3 mars 2024 sur HomeAwayWe enjoyed our stay primarily for the cleanliness and location. It is across from a cemetery, but that didn’t bother us. Quiet neighbors, my husband said. But we loved the covered side porch and the comfy bed.
Only down sides were the bathroom was very small, especially the shower, and the floors are pretty uneven, which would be a challenge for older guests (including the steep and slippery stairs up to the primary bedroom).
Also, it appears that the owners suite is located just down the hall from the guest room. Luckily they weren’t home during our visit, but we had the impression that their space was more separated based on the listing.

Guest is expected to wash all dishes, clean the house for the next guest, strip the beds and towels and take the garbage cans to the curb. Ridiculous. Killed 2 roaches in the living room and the house is loud at night with the creaking and settling.

Hi Kent, thanks for your review. After going over your feedback with the homeowner, we wanted to share the following:
- We strive to be transparent with our guests at every stage of the booking process and do break down all rates and fees before the reservation is confirmed.
- As is standard for vacation rentals, guests are asked to complete a few small tasks, like removing their own trash, as part of checkout. With the added time needed for the professional cleaners to sanitize and turn the house for the next guest, it is very helpful.
- The house is 102 years old so a little creaking would not be surprising; however, the owners have never received any complaints about this in the past.

Adequate but not special.
Publié le 1 juill. 2022 sur HomeAwayThe property doesn't match the picture. The outside needs to be relandscaped. It currently makes the house dark inside being so overgrown. The inside of the house was acceptable except for the shower. The shower on my 42 ft sailboat was much larger or compared to the shower on a typical cruise ship this is much smaller. We had problems with the TV. It turns out the house does not have cable TV, just roku TV. There are no instructions telling you this or explaining it. We enjoyed our stay in New Bern but the accommodations could have been better.

- We use professional photography so the features you see on the listing are as advertised, including the shower.
- The listing also states that the home has a flat-screen Smart TV with Roku. We encourage guests to thoroughly review the listing before booking to ensure they find the perfect vacation home for their needs.
- Additionally, the cleaner came to the property to help with the TV and find the remote, which was on the coffee table.
The owners do all they can to make the best possible stay, and we look forward to this property hosting many satisfied guests!

Charming Home
