Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else!!

Posted Jul. 7, 2024 on HomeAway
The house was very dirty- there were dead bugs upstairs on the beds such as spiders, flies and other bugs. The main floor bedroom bed was also full of dirt on the mattress cover after taking off the sheets. It looks as though it’s never been washed. The floors were dirty and the bathroom was disgusting, not even a plastic insert shower curtain. I didn’t realize there wasn’t a living room to sit and relax, only the kitchen. The kitchen also looked as it hadn’t been cleaned and things were falling apart such as drawers without handles and cabinet doors that won’t shut. The train noise is horrible 4-5 trains with whistles blowing through out the night let alone during the day. The only good thing I can say was the air conditioning and fans were perfect!

Hi Colleen, we want our guests to arrive at a vacation home that is 100% ready for their stay, so we take the cleanliness of our properties seriously! We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following:-The sheets and bedding are freshly laundered before each guest's arrival. We apologize if the cleanliness did not meet your expectations and will address this with our cleaning team.-The choice of not using a plastic shower curtain is intentional to reduce moisture buildup; cotton curtains are provided instead.-The floors were swept and mopped before your arrival. We’ll recheck our cleaning procedures to ensure they meet our high standards.-The kitchen cabinet doors are designed to be handle-free as a personal preference of the homeowner, but we understand this may not suit everyone.-The property's proximity to the train tracks is mentioned in our listing to inform guests about potential noise.Thank you for bringing these issues to our attention. We've addressed your comments with the relevant teams so that future guests will receive the exceptional service we strive to provide.

Disappointed

Posted Nov. 25, 2023 on HomeAway
We had high hopes for this house, but we were disappointed the minute we saw it. This “house” is connected to a chiropractic clinic. We thought we might be at the wrong location but no, we parked in the chiropractic parking and brought our back into the “house”. There were so many doors that could be opened from the chiropractors office or from the exterior of the house but couldn’t be open from the inside of the house where we were staying. It was not clean, toilets looked nasty and floors were dusty and sticky. They only provided 2 rolls of toilet paper for a group of 8 for 3 days. It was located right off of a highway, next to a railroad where a train traveled at night and it was SO loud, and there was an unfinished construction site behind the property that looked scary. Overall this was just not at all what we were expecting and we felt scared to stay at this property because of the location and the lack of heavy duty locks on the doors.

Hi Lauryl, the right vacation home is everything, and we're disappointed if this wasn't the one for you. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to clarify the following:- Our listing and pre-stay information clearly state that a chiropractic office is on-site, with a completely separate and private entrance. Due to the office being connected to the home, there are doors that guests can't access.- We prioritize cleanliness and sanitization, ensuring the property is thoroughly cleaned for all guest arrivals, including freshly mopped floors and clean bathrooms.- As is standard for vacation rentals, the homeowner provides a starter supply of paper essentials for guests’ convenience. Guests may have to purchase additional supplies, especially for longer stays or larger groups.- The listing and pre-stay information explicitly note that this property is located near train tracks, and guests may experience noise throughout their stay. We encourage travelers to thoroughly review the listing before booking, to ensure they find the perfect vacation home for their needs.- There is construction occurring behind the home that does not extend into the property.- We've confirmed that all access doors are equipped with deadbolts and locking doorknobs, ensuring the property is safe and secure. We strive to provide every guest with a comfortable, safe environment to get away to and relax.

Worst property Ever!

Posted Oct. 23, 2022 on HomeAway
Very small, dirty, very dangerous outside! All kinds of electrical cords running through the backyard to a property across the wall (plugged into outlets outside looks like they are doing renovation at the property behind). Rocky outside, lots of tripping hazards out there! Beds uncomfortable, bathroom/tub very small. Very noisy as it's on a main road. Also Very Dark if you're arriving at night and hard ti find if you're not familiar with the area. I would not recommend this property to anyone.....lots of potential but not really kept up! Don't take children here too dangerous!

Overall the house was as advertised. Unfortunately there was construction out back and the construction workers woke us up several times asking for the owner.

Would not stay here again. Pictures are very deceiving.

Posted Mar. 16, 2022 on HomeAway
It was extremely difficult to sleep at night due to the significant amount of traffic. There is also a train that passes every hour on the hour even between 2-5am. It is impossible to sleep. We had to leave a day earlier (even though we paid for 4 nights) we could not stay any longer. There were soooo many flying ants in the master bedroom it was awful. The property is also under construction. The backyard looks like a construction sight. There is no grass or plants just rocks to walk on. The construction works also built a huge fire to burn brush. The smell of smoke was sooo strong it filled the house immediately for one entire day and night. Also, the pictures are very deceiving. The property needs to be remodeled. There is no living area and no main room to watch tv or relax. If you want to watch tv there is a small tv in the master bedroom. However, the master bedroom was filled with flying ants. We left a day early because it was awful. We still have not received a refund. I would highly recommend you NOT stay here.

Weekend away

Felt very much like glamping. My daughter loved the loft! The back yard made for enjoyable nights with string lights and fires in the pit! Close to groceries and the drive in theaters! Manager was nice and asked for feedback. Overall we enjoyed our trip.

Shabby chic does not mean shabby.

The property owner warns potential guests about stairs and the busy location. However, the stairs are more like a steep ladder going up into an attic where there are three beds. It is nice up there, if you don't mind bumping your head or falling down a floor through the access door. That leaves you with one double bed in the main bedroom downstairs and a futon in the entry hall. The house is cute in the photos but the cooktop and oven were so dirty I didn't use them, the refrigerator door seals were loose, and the entire house needed a good scrubbing. Even the bathtub ledges were dusty. Also, the house is located two car lengths from a VERY busy highway, much worse than a busy street. It faces a cut-through junction where commuters access I35. At about 6:30 every morning, cement trucks also start barreling down the road to and from a cement plant around the corner, blowing dust everywhere. Parallel to the road, about an 8th of a mile in the distance, trains start going by at about 4 in the morning (with horns blasting). I'm sure this house and the patio areas around it were cute at one time, but most everything is deteriorated and falling apart. I don't blame the old house for having only one electrical outlet in every room, but surely more could have been added in the renovations. I have stayed in property rentals for many years, and this is the first time I have written a negative review.

Hi Kathryn, thanks for letting us know about your stay. After going over your feedback, the homeowner wanted to address the items that you mentioned: - The listing does state that the stairs to get to the loft are steep. We also make sure to include photos of this to ensure that guests feel comfortable using this access but we are sorry if this caught you off guard. We encourage guests to thoroughly review the listing before booking, to ensure they find the perfect vacation home for their needs. - The access door is also reflected in the listing photos and can be closed for guest safety. - We will address your concerns regarding the cleanliness of the appliances with the cleaning company so this issue does not affect future guests. - We do include a map on our listing so that guests can see the approximate location of the home prior to booking. Most guests do not have an issue with the home's proximity to the road but we're sorry to hear that this was a disturbance to you! We do all we can to make the best possible stay, and we look forward to this property hosting many satisfied guests.

Not recommend for summer

Posted Aug. 28, 2021 on HomeAway
The place had a cool back yard with outside shower and a nice kitchen. The bedroom downstairs was nice with a window window and in the attic bedroom was horrible and hot. You had to climb a narrow ladder to get upstairs and the split unit ac was no good and my party had to leave to a hotel at 1:30 am due to how hot it was. Then you had a futon in the hallway what was hard and small with only a box fan so I was Miserable the whole night because I stayed behind so they didn’t have to pack.

Hi Christopher, we're so glad you enjoyed the backyard with the vintage outdoor shower and the beautiful kitchen, but we're sorry that you experienced some issues during your trip. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and we wanted to share the following: - The A/C in the loft works most efficiently when the hatch is closed. It is also helpful to keep all the doors closed, especially during the hotter summer months. - The listing description and photos accurately advertise that a ladder is needed to access the loft, but we're sorry if this caught you off guard. - While mattress preference is unique to each guest and futons tend to have a more firm mattress, we're sorry to hear that you weren’t comfortable during your stay. Thanks for letting us know about your stay!
