Nice renovated historical place, but lacking a few things
Posted Oct. 7, 2024 on HomeAwayThe place was lacking convenient comfortable seating inside and out for the three of us. It would be nice to have a patio area by the entrance of the room to just step out for a morning cup of coffee or enjoy the weather outside. Otherwise, you had to walk the long way around the building to the patio area, which is shared with the owners. Felt like we were intruding or would be watched as there are big windows of the owner's dining room by this shared patio area. Inside, sitting on the stools by the table could be tolerated for a short time. Not a place to relax and chill. Snacks provided were expired. Showers were nice. Beds were comfortable. We were accused of stealing a mug, which for some odd reason was found behind the frig. Interesting that it didn't break IF it fell back there as the flooring is concrete. The accusation seemed suspicious. We left the used mugs on the countertop. Not near the frig or edge of the counter. Nonetheless, I'm glad they found it. They would have charged for a full set of 5 mugs to replace. Beware of this. Don't take anything on purpose or accidentally. You will get charged. No apologies was given after the mug was found. Will not stay here again.

Thanks for your feedback. Our building is historic and we keep a neat exterior aesthetic at the front, so all our exterior furniture is in the backyard which offers a 3,000 sf of secluded forest-facing area with a fire pit, granite table, dining wood table/chairs, and swing chair. On the way to the backyard (which is 200 feet) we have an original vintage billboard, so it is part of the experience and stay. At check-out we account for the mugs, glasses, towels ect. so we can ensure the same standards for the next guests. We eventually found the missing mug (vintage set of 5) lodged behind the refrigerator and provided a discount for the inconvenience. Thank you again for staying with us.

Fun option in New Ulm
Posted Dec. 3, 2023 on HomeAwayWe loved staying at the old Hauenstein brewery. Beautiful accommodations within walking distance to Schell’s and not far from downtown. The bed was so comfortable! Mojra was great at communicating. We would love to return.

Unique and Lovely
Posted Nov. 19, 2023 on HomeAwayA beautiful place to stay, thank you.
Only suggestion would maybe be a few more places to just sit and visit and/or a bigger table with chairs to sit and share some takeout.
Thanks for your hospitality!

Super get away in a unique building
Posted Sep. 5, 2023 on HomeAwayThe Old Hauenstein Brewery was a great oasis for our exploration of MN. It was quiet, clean, well furnished with every amenity we needed and more. It would be a super getaway retreat for 2 couples.
The bed was incredibly comfortable. We loved the photos, blueprint and doors from the old brewery.
We visited New Ulm to see the MN Music Hall of Fame and found a lovely small-town-America downtown surrounded by lots of history (great local history museum). It is an easy drive to the Lower Sioux Agency in Morton to learn about the Dakota War and they provided a super map to explore additional Native American sites. Our dive into MN history was accompanied by a visit to the Schell Brewing biergarten and some German food at the Turner Hall Rathskeller.
A very enjoyable weekend. Everyone we met and talked with were super nice and friendly.

Fabulous!
Posted Jul. 21, 2023 on HomeAwayOur stay at Hauenstein Brewery was so much more than we were expecting! Mojra is so welcoming! Even the neighbors are super friendly and excellent ambassadors for New Ulm! The VRBO is beautiful and very comfortable. Mojra had snacks, coffee, water, even Hauenstein beer available to us for no extra cost! The grounds are beautiful and have so much history. This VRBO is a must-do for history buffs especially if you're a brew fan!!

Enjoyed our stay
Posted Jun. 26, 2023 on HomeAwayWe enjoyed the uniqueness of this place! Very clean. We loved the unique touches in the rooms- the bricks, the old cooler door. Very cool!
There is no AC, but it did stay cool. Wishing there was a sitting area with TV in the main shared space. Also would be cool if there was a little table and chairs to sit right outside the door to the space instead of having to go clear around the back.
overall this was a great place to stay! We would be back.

Thank you. We just added a custom table in the main space. We are in a historic district, so we keep the exterior public view uncluttered from furniture while the upper garden is more hidden and adorned with granite table, fire pit and swing chairs…. and fireflies. We appreciate your patronage.
