Newbury Harbor House

Publié le 4 sept. 2024 sur HomeAway
The amount of space in the house was great, and we were very happy to bring our dogs with us. Nancy was very quick to answer any questions. However, the musty smell in the house was almost overwhelming. My daughter had the worst allergy attack, even while taking her allergy medicine. We opened many windows etc but the odor didn't go away. Also - the house could use a really deep clean, lots of cobwebs in the upstairs sky lights, and window areas. And the living room surfaces were really dusty. Also - there were alot of light bulbs out - or we couldn't find what switch went with what light. I think it would go along way to label some of the light switches. Lastly - there are alot of stairs - which for us was fine, but it would be good to call out in the details, the back yard rail road ties, are particularly treacherous - if you aren't careful. The location was good for us - as family was close by - and being near the lake was nice, but also - should call out that its not that close of a walk to the harbor, and to go back to the house - is a very steep uphill walk.

It is unfortunate that Kim and her group did not message me with the issues mentioned in her review, and gave me a 3 star review. I had no communication from her group during their stay which typically means that everything is as expected. I clearly state in my welcome information email "if there is any issues please message me as soon as you get to the house and I will have my cleaner address it." I heard nothing. Especially since her daughter had "the worst allergy attack." Had one of my children had such an attack I would surely let the host know as a courtesy and as a precaution for future renters. My cleaners do the best they can, and I pay them more than I charge my guests. Had Kim messaged me about the cobwebs and "musty smell" I would have worked with them to credit their cleaning fee or something to that effect. Also, with the light bulbs being out, I am just finding this out now, it will be resolved. All of my guests the weeks prior to Kim gave me 5 star reviews and did not mention any of these issues. I try to get to my property as often as possible, but I work 3 jobs and live two hours away. I depend on my guests to let me know in real time with issues, not two weeks later. Kim brought three dogs to my home, many of my guests have pets and I welcome them. I also let guests without pets know my house is "Pet friendly" so if they have allergies they should probably rent a "pet free" home. Being a host can be thankless. Oh well.

Ideal location and perfect for families!

This was the shortest overnight just to rest our heads before an early awakening for a morning hike. If I had know about this place when my children were small this would have been our go to spot for our annual vacations. Beautiful location. Completely kid friendly house. When you walk in it has that damp smell and you think, oh no, is this going to be ok? And then you walk upstairs into the primary living space and it’s completely lovely and you remind yourself this is a lake house in the summer time. I would definitely come back again.

Great Location

Publié le 21 août 2023 sur HomeAway
It rained all but the last morning of our stay! The house was large enough to keep us all busy with a kitchen that was outfitted to keep us showing off our chef skills, to watching movies on TV that we don't even have access to at home in a living room that goes on for days!! The close proximity to Lake Sunapee and to Bubba's in Newbury harbor were a great plus. It should be NOTED that Sunapee State beach gets filled up early so reservations are important. We couldn't access because we didn't know. But now we do! This house has a lot of stairs for us older folks! It was a challenge, but was worth it! The beds are super comfy! We enjoyed the firepit in the light rain and the back of the house that is set up with a patio, decks and nice landscaping. Would love to see some railings placed along the railroad tie stairs that lean downward and cause us older folk some balance concerns. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and will more than likely come back again!

Relaxing New Hampshire Lake

Publié le 27 août 2022 sur HomeAway
My family and I had never been to New Hampshire and found this listing that seemed to fit what we wanted for a get away and took a chance. The property is at the end of a dead end street. It is quiet and at night you feel like you are alone. It is right around the corner from some great state parks and a nice beach. There are hiking trailheads at the end of the road. It is a small town, but the couple of restaurants there are very good. Bubba’s especially. The property owner is very nice and responded quickly when there was a question. If we repeat a trip to NH we will be hopeful that this property is available again.

Lake Sunapee house

Publié le 8 août 2022 sur HomeAway
This house is everything it was described, and then some! We had stayed there in the late fall, and it was so roomy, we booked it for our entire family for a week in the summer. Unfortunately, all could not join us, but the 6 of us who did stay totally enjoyed our time there. It can easily sleep 12, with a King size bed in Master, a Queen and Full in 2nd bedroom, 4 Singles in the 3rd bedroom, plus a pull-out sofa on the "porch" on the main level. Two bathrooms met all our needs, and the washer and dryer were used frequently for beach towels! We loved the Boston memorabilia and Lego creations!! Any questions (a stubborn garage door one day) were answered quickly by the owner, who is very kind and helpful. While this house is not ON the lake, it is very CLOSE to it and we never had any complaints. There's plenty of parking between the gravel driveway and the spaces across the street ~ great when our extended family came to enjoy the A/C on a couple of really H-O-T days in August! Stop by Bubba's at the bottom of the hill and grab your favorite ice cream on your way home from the beach, boating or live concerts in the harbor!! Check-out was a breeze and we will definitely book this house again and again, God willing!

Perfect Last Minute Stay

Publié le 31 oct. 2021 sur HomeAway
We booked last minute for a family members wedding in the area. The house had way more space than we needed and we all did not want to leave after two nights. Owner communicated with us perfectly with any questions and information for our stay. The five year old with us was overjoyed with all the toys to play with. Highly recommend for a family with kids (:
