Petite chambre face à Nando's (pas d'upgrade malgré le statut sur Hôtels.com et nous avons demandé pour un check out tardif qui nous a gentiment été offert).
Piscine toujours agréable mais jacuzzi en panne les deux jours.
La moquette de la chambre est à changer et lorsqu'on ouvre la fenêtre, on tombe sur mégots et déchets ! Aussi, les distributeurs de savon et gel douche étaient complètement vides - nous avons donc réclamés à la réception et quelqu'un est monté en quelques minutes.
Tout est à rénover mais la proximité avec la gare et le centre ville sont indéniables.

Publié le 10 août 2024 sur HotelsWe weren't informed of any "privilege" being gold members which was a shame. The reception area is fantastic with huge chandeliers in the staircase!
Room is outdated, can't see much through the windows but you can hear well... Carpet needs changing. Mattress and pillows are comfy though and we didn't hear the other guests!
We loved the location to easily reach both the train station and the city centre.
Enjoyed the swimming pool and jacuzzi but again, very outdated and you have to go up stairs to get changed, also when wet. There are missing tiles and broken bits in the pool area.
Staff wad lovely though, free water and luggage storage which was perfect for us.

Convenience above all
Publié le 2 mars 2023 sur HotelsVery practically situated, right on the station. Charming young man and woman (from Greece) on the desk. An excellent English breakfast. But the once rather grand hotel is in need of a face-lift. The fridge supposedly contains complimentary items, but my fridge was empty. When I asked why, I was told that COVID was to blame. Strangely, the fridge contained sachets of milk--apparently in no danger from COVID.

Complimentary fridge items are currently only included in superior room types and not all rooms since we reopened after lockdown. The hotel gives on to the station.

This hotel is right next to the main, central train station of Newcastle upon Tyne, and walking distance to the city's historical, entertainment and cultural districts, including Quayside, Newcastle Castle, the Baltic gallery, and Earl Grey Monument. The property is a heritage 1800's era building that has been reasonably modernized, but showing its vintage. My room was comfortable but not soundproofed, so you could hear the trains and the late night entertainment district sounds of party-goers. To the hotel's credit, free ear plugs are provided. This noise issue didn't overly concern me, but guests who are "light sleepers" might be affected. The staff that I intereacted with were cordial and helpful. Overall, a pleasant stay. I would recommend.
