I’ll start with the good:
-The host was kind and sent the pin early.
-They communicated to make sure we got in okay
Cons:
-The first jarring thing for my family was that the drive from the border to the property took us through a rundown town that had so many closed down shops and boarded up houses. So Eerie!
- The house is on the same lot as an abandoned, boarded up church which caught us off guard
- We went through the side entrance thinking it was the one we were supposed to use to bring our bags through since it was right next to the parking lot. We regretted it as we saw a dirty unfinished basement, a discarded ac unit and rat droppings on the floor.
-When we entered from the other way the house seemed spacious and clean, however upon further inspection there were broken vents in all the rooms which were all dusty and made some of our allergies act up
-The downstairs bathroom curtain was hung too high and the water was leaking out of the shower
-The upstairs shower had low water pressure and the hot water took forever to start coming through the shower head
-The doors are all really old, some split so you could see light from the other side when it was on
All in all, we brought our mom here for her birthday (Christmas day), and we were all so uncomfortable we couldn’t get a good nights sleep here. We ended up leaving on day 2 (Christmas/bday) so we could go home and feel safe in our own beds and get some good sleep.
