Publié le 27 sept. 2024 sur HomeAwayThe cottage was spotless. The location was wonderful for the theater, restaurants, and shopping. If you have mobility issues do not rent this. The floor slopes throughout the house. Yes, it is original, but can be difficult for those with mobility issues. The gate needs to be repaired. The code for both the front door and back should be the same. We were only able to go in the back door. The reserved sparking spot was great. The beds were fairly comfortable and the area very quiet.

Dear Molly, Thank you very much for your review. It is very good to hear that the cottage was spotless and the location was wonderful! Thank you! Yes, it is a genuine 19thC cottage and the floor of one bedroom slopes. We have a friend who spent five years restoring his impressive Palazzo (with 6 private gondola berths!) on the Grand Canal in Venice. Our bedroom when we stayed sloped fully a foot from one side to the other! It was amazing. So that is a hazard with old buildings - though in the case of Old Blacksmith's Cottage it is just one bedroom and the slope is about an inch! The two other bedrooms are recent.Thank you for letting me know about the door codes. That is not normal and I shall follow that up. We set personal door codes for all guests and so both doors have the same code. I'm glad you found the reserved parking spot great and the beds comfortable! Amazing stay

Weekend of Fun
Publié le 21 juill. 2024 sur HomeAwayThe cottage was in a great location for walking to most of the sites we wanted to see and for getting to restaurants. Having a dedicated parking space made it very convenient to come and go with our car if necessary. Everything we needed was there and it was a very comfortable stay. The kitchen and bathroom were very nice and the kitchen was fully equipped.

Wonderful Location, quaint historic house rather than luxury
Publié le 11 juill. 2024 sur HomeAwayAlthough the manager answered the phone when called about a mouse. She said a hired man might come the next day. I said today would be our expectation.
No traps or extra plugin repellers for kitchen were brought. Owner responded by email and expected the manager would deal with it.
There were plugin repellers in other rooms.
Suggestions: Add a proper fitting screen door and smaller screen or hardware cloth around the perimeter of the house.
The house was the perfect location, size and came well equiped for our family so I was disappointed in the manager's lack of action.

As I replied to you, "Thank you very much for letting me know. That is very useful. I'll copy this to Monika as she is very good at keeping on top of things like this. We've just been there for a month ourselves and were not troubled, and so this must be quite new. Hmmm.... We installed a new bin container while we were there, and the concrete slabs blocked the ground beside the house. I wonder if that has diverted a mouse from some normal run? I don't know. I think I'll suggest to Monika that we get some mouse eradicator and put it in that area in some safe way.
If it has been under the drier, that is definitely near the new bin container outside, and we could also put something near there where the vent goes out. I'll let Monika decide as she is on site.
Will that help? If you need any more help, please do contact Monika as she lives reasonably close - and really does not like mice at all!
I suppose we have to accept that Niagara-on-the-Lake is still very much in the country and amazingly, really, in the centre of Old Town, there are of course mice, but also raccoons, possums, coyotes (quite a few), mink in the lake (lots), and last week we saw a skunk carrying a baby skunk go under one of the cottages owned by the Prince of Wales Hotel! I'm glad it was the Prince of Wales and not us! So it is both an aviary and a zoo!

Convenient and Comfortable Cottage!
Publié le 2 juill. 2024 sur HomeAway4 Friends to NotL for a quick weekend - place was clean, comfortable and conveniently in a 5 min walking distance to theater, shops, lakefront, forts, and biking trails. Easy in, easy out! Would recommend to anyone.

3 Friends in NOTL
Publié le 25 juin 2024 sur HomeAwayThis was our first visit to NOTL. I was the travel planner for our getaway. The accommodations were excellent. The cottage was within steps of the main street of NOTL.
The cottage had everything we needed, and then some. We did not need to use the washer and dryer, or the stove, but it was great to know that they were available if we chose to use them. The living room was ever so comfortable, as were the beds.
I can't say enough about how the cottage greatly enhanced and supported our stay in NOTL.
Also, so very close to the Falls, wineries, and beautiful views of Lake Ontario.

Great property

Was very clean for the most part and the owner was great to deal with as was the property manager. It was extremely close to the main part of town so it was easy to walk wherever you needed to go. We felt we had a lot of privacy in the backyard as well. We definitely stay here again.
