Convenient location, a place to relax

Publié le 18 mars 2024 sur HomeAway
Sea Glass Villa 2 was accurately depicted in the photos, and made for a mostly relaxing week, if you are willing to roll with the glitches on Andros (occasional power failures, no ATM, restaurants running out of food, all cash except for groceries and liquor, cash for rides to and from airport, cash for charter flights). We have experienced this all before on other Out Islands, except for the all cash part. I did not realize that Villa 2 was attached to the main residence (must have missed that), but that was no issue for us. Villa 1 is standalone. If you are interested in Andros, then you are likely an adventurous sort who is not looking for a "resort-type" atmosphere. On the Out Islands beaches, especially if on the eastern (ocean) side, you are not going to see a perfectly manicured, groomed beach. We expected that; also, unfortunately, some trash can also wash up. That has nothing to do with the villa; it's just a sad fact of modern life. The safe was not working while we were there and Francine offered to fix it, but we told Zona there was no hurry. We did not realize we had to ask for the beach chairs until our last day (bikes and chairs are locked up and you have to ask Zona). One thing we enjoyed about this location was that you could walk down the path and be in Nicholls Town with access to some food and drink (Sly Fox on the Beach for Conch Salad, Cafe Loren, Driftwood, which was a short drive. True to the name of the villas, I did find a LOT of sea glass!

Dear Donna, thank you for leaving us a review. I would like to take this opportunity to address your comments. With regard to "rolling with the glitches on Andros", this is very true and the reason why we do send out very detailed messages to all guests on what to expect regarding power outages, ATM's, the importance on bringing enough cash and the fact that only grocery, liquor stores and few restaurants accept credit cards. You had mentioned to me that you made the wrong assumptions and did not bring enough cash even after you read my messages stating this. I promptly offered you a cash solution to which you had declined. With regard to the Villas, Villa 2 is attached to a main residence by a deck which is ours and is never occupied when guests are there, nor does it impact Villa 2 in any way. All units are self contained, self catering, fully stocked with cooking / linen supplies, and private. Andros was hit by covid especially from the banks pulling out which has been tough for not only the locals but also for guests and we understand this which is why we had offered you a solution for a cash advance with a local merchant that you had declined. As for the safe, I believe Zona had that in working order immediately. On the islands, if something has not been used in a few days, it may need a slight adjustment which was the case. With regard to Andros Island, we do describe our listing, the property and the island as very quiet and remote and this includes a natural beach which can have debris washing up after a storm. Our staff promptly cleans this up. We also stress that if guests are looking for lots of action, shopping, night life and an abundance of restaurants then they should not consider Andros, and perhaps consider the neighboring islands such as Nassau / New Providence. Chairs and bicycles are put away in the evenings to keep everything in good working order, minimal salt damage and preventing petty theft (bicycles are quite desirable) and we do advise that these items including kayaks and BBQ are all available and Zona will set them up for you upon arrival, just ask!! With regard to SeaGlass, that is one of the wonderful gifts from a storm, it really uncovers and washes up many beautiful glass gems that can be made into jewelry, added to a glass bottle or simply enjoyed on the beach while strolling along the coast. Thank you again for your detailed review and we do hope you will return again in the future. All the best, Francine

A dreamy spot!

The space and bed are clean, comfy, and darling...but the view and the yard and the beach and the turquoise water and the point are sooooo beautiful! Access to bikes and kayaks and snorkeling ear included is great. Zona and his wife Bernadette, property managers, so helpful and knowledgable and kind. Local Bahamian people were welcoming and wonderful. It is definitely off the beaten path, but if you are down for that (i.e. no Starbucks, etc), it's a magical spot!
