Clean and serviceable
Posted Nov. 3, 2019 on HotelsNice clean hotel right across from the train station. So close in fact that you get woken by the announcements on the PA of arriving trains at three am and six am, plus the honking, idling intercity bus that boards curbside outside.
Great convenient location for any and all transit needs, but don't stay if you're a light sleeper.

This lace is like an "Old Dowager" a bit frayed at the edges but a lot of charm and character. The management are very helpful with advice on tours and what to do around the general areas and further. I did have some maintenance issues but these were willingly and happily addressed and me moved promptly to another room which was appreciated. It is very close to the station but a bit away from other facilities and the centre. Can recommend.

Hotel just OK. Motorbike Hire Terrible
Posted Mar. 1, 2019 on HotelsWe chose this hotel in Ninh Binh for 2 nights because it was across the road from the train station where we had an early departure.
When we arrived, at 3pm, we were given our room key but when we got to our room it was already occupied. We quickly left and were given another key. This time the room had not been made up, beds unmade and towels on the floor. Third time lucky!!! The third room was fine, although it had no window, and only the big fluorescent lights worked.
Once we got settled we realised that there was no hot water. This was because the hot water switch was in the hotel room next door, so the staff had to go into the room and turn it on. They had to do this a few times during our stay.
One day we booked a motorbike from the hotel and we paid a premium to include a tank of petrol. When we picked it up there was only half a tank of petrol. We were told that this would be enough for one day. It wasn’t and the petrol gauge was at the bottom of the red by the time we got to the pagoda that they recommended. We put in some petrol and continued with our day. When we got back to the hotel they wouldn’t refund the petrol that we put in as they said that there was still petrol in the tank (it was in the red again). They were very rude and laughed at us.
Breakfast the first day was fine but the next day we ordered pancakes which where sitting in a puddle of oil. Not nice!!

Good budget hotel close to train station
Posted Dec. 18, 2018 on HotelsWe stayed here for just a few hours before catching an overnight train from Ninh Binh. It have us a chance to have a rest and a shower before the very long train journey, and a place to leave our rucksacks. The hotel was fine for what we needed, and represented good value for money. The location is close to the train station which was what we needed.

Good choice for easily exploring Ninh Binh area
Posted Sep. 12, 2018 on HotelsSolid choice for a budget hotel in NinhBinh. It's across the street from the train station, so getting there is super easy. Nice owner who will come by if you're eating dinner in their lobby and offer fruit as well as a shot of the local liquor to help you sleep. Spacious rooms in an older traditional guesthouse style building with elevator, solid wooden furniture, good AC and TV. Their restaurant made a very tasty fried rice and also had a nice breakfast(banana pancakes!). Only downside is that the trains may be too loud for light sleepers, and it's a bit far from the main town area if you're interested in walking to restaurants there. Otherwise, they rent scooters there so you can explore the surrounding countryside easily, which is the best part of Ninh Binh anyway.

Dated rooms but cls to station and quiet location
Posted May 8, 2018 on HotelsOnce you have your head round the peeling wallpaper and not so white sheets, it's not a bad place for a stop over.
Staff were nice, not all spoke English but was welcomed and allowed to check in early off the night bus which was great. Always someone around.
Lift to all floors, room I had on 4th was quiet, shared balcony with next door room but not all rooms have Windows to the outside. AC was fine, wifi bit patchy, comfy bed, mini fridge and shampoo+soap provided. Bathroom small and drain a bit smelly but all fine and hot water.
Directly opposite station but quiet and no road noise. Very little else around, nowhere decent to eat. Ten min drive to Tam Coc.
Rented moped with them, took older bike as newer one didn't start first time and bad brakes but bike broke down. Was first disappointed as told to rent another and they couldn't fix till pm but they did refund me and bring a replacement which I was pleased with and was fair. Would stay again on a stopover basis.
